Rockbrook Reminder
Rockbrook's Weekly Updates, 10-23-2026
Dear Rockbrook Families and Friends:
I can't believe October is drawing to a close! Next week we have our Halloween Parties and Parade. This is a fun core memory for our kids and a lot of fun for our adults. Thanks to all our party volunteers for making these special memories, and our teachers for helping prepare our kids for having fun in safe, respectful, and responsible ways. A reminder that all volunteers must be signed up with the Community Club, as a party volunteer, and must have completed a background check. If your background check was not yet complete, you should have received an email indicating the need to complete. If you aren't sure, be certain to call the office while there is still time to get this completed.
Please also take a careful look at the parade route, where adults may view from, and expectations for costumes, treats, and options if your child does not participate in this event. We want to ensure all kids can enjoy this time while honoring each family's requests.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Higginbotham, Principal

It's time for Halloween candy & things that go bump in the night!
Fun and Friendly Costumes please.
Halloween is coming soon, and we look forward to the chance for many of our favorite Halloween events. It’s time to think about your costumes. For our school parade and party please wear only fun and friendly costumes. Fun and friendly excludes blood, gore, scary/frightening masks or clothing, and weapons. We request you reserve makeup for your evening trick-or-treating. If anyone has questions concerning the appropriateness of a costume, please contact the office. Thank you for keeping things on the fun and light side!
Parade and Parties
Please do not have your child wear costumes to school. If your child's costume includes typical school-appropriate clothing or can be worn underneath, these are great options. Students will have some time afforded to change before the parade but need to do so with minimal assistance from teachers.
To make sure we have enough room for the fun activities planned in classrooms we ask that families only join the classroom parties if they are one of the signed up volunteer families. All volunteers during parties must have completed a district background check.
All families are welcome to join for our annual costume parade! If weather permits, this parade will come out the Northwest doors, along the parking lot, and back in the main entrance before the parties begin. Parents are welcome to come view the parade outside which will take place at 2:30pm on Friday 10/30.
Important: Please help us keep kids safe, please keep sidewalks clear so our costume parade can pass. See the image below for the parade route.
Food Safety
Please remember to follow the District Approved Snack List. Linked is the list of what to bring for parties or birthdays. Thanks for helping to make Rockbrook a caring community for all of our students. We hope you have a fun and safe Halloween! While students will enjoy some treats in the room, most will be sent home for parent review.
Alternative Options:
We know that not all families participate in holiday celebrations for a variety of reasons. It's important to us that all students know they belong at our school and these family choices are respected. If this applies to your child(ren), please see the following options we have available.
- If your child needs help in acquiring a costume, please email Dr. Higginbotham for access to support resources.
- If you prefer your child not wear a costume but participate in the games and activities this is also fine.
- For families that prefer to not have their child participate in the parties, we are happy to have a fun game time with or without non-holiday treats depending on your family's preferences.
- Families may opt to pick up their child before the parties. This will be treated as an excused absence.
