The LPS Education Foundation is again offering Star Awards for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Month 2023!

Are you looking for a unique way to thank a Livonia Public Schools staff member? A Star Award honors any LPS employee who has made a difference in a student’s, family’s or fellow staffer’s life. For a $25 donation to the Foundation, a personalized, color certificate will be presented to your honoree, and they will receive recognition on the Foundation's website and social media platforms as well as the district's social media platforms. The certificate will be personalized with your praise to show this LPS employee how much they mean to you!

Please click on the link below to send a Star Award to an awesome LPS staff member!

Donations received will be used to help fund the Foundation’s Grant Program so all funds will be going back into the schools to provide programs and supplies for our students and staff.

Thank you for your support! This is an ongoing fundraiser and Star Awards may be submitted at any time during the school year.

Membership

Can you believe it's already May?!? What an exciting time of year! By now you have at least presented your slate, if not already voted in next year's PTA/PTSA board members. It's never too early to start thinking about next year and what it could bring. While everyone is getting ready for the end of the year celebrations, now is the time to start planting the seed in family, staff, and community member's minds on why it is so important to become to a PTA/PTSA member. How can you gain more members? Does anyone have any ideas for incentives for next school year? Will you do a membership drive? How will you acquire 100% staff membership? The possibilities are endless! Let's see how many more members you can gain next year compared to this year!

Buchanan Elementary

May is an exciting month at Buchanan.

We will host our Spring Fling carnival, complete with games, raffle baskets, food trucks, a petting farm, and face painting.

We will also spend the month of May honoring our incredible staff with meals and other treats to show our appreciation for them all month long.

Cleveland Elementary

Happy Earth Day!

Our Eagles celebrated Earth Day by receiving our beautiful planet Earth as a tattoo, a pin and a sticker! We even shared ideas like going on a nature walk, playing games with their littles and even fun crafts to do at home.

Youth Making a Difference

Our Eagles LOVE making a positive difference, not just at our school but in our community as well. We had about 15 participants and we are very proud of their hard work!

Frost Middle

Frost PTSA: Busy Prepping for End of Year

Like every school, the Frost PTSA is busy prepping for the end of year rush.

First up is Staff Appreciation. The PTSA polled teachers and instead of a weeklong celebration, the staff preferred to have it spread out throughout the month. The PTSA has planned a Ted Lasso theme with an activity each week, and we can't wait to celebrate our incredible staff!

The PTSA has also been hard at work recruiting applications for our scholarship that we award to a Frost alum at any of the LPS high schools. We are now moving on to the hard part of evaluating the applications and will award the $500 next month.

We have also been planning for our outgoing 8th graders: Honors Night, Annual Send Off and the annual trip to Cedar Point!

May and June are going to be busy, but we can't wait to spread all the joy to our staff and students!

Kennedy Elementary

Our Kennedy stars have been keeping busy this spring.

The PTA created MStep messages including calming stickers for each student to keep on their desk during the test. Every student also received two snacks and several mints out of baskets that where put together for each class.

Our PTA and parent volunteers are looking forward to spoiling Kennedy’s staff this year for staff appreciation week. Special chair massages, treats, gift cards, lunch and more will be in store for the staff throughout the week.

This spring our Kennedy PTA is offering a Family Engagement Activity where families will have the option to participate in a Livonia Playground Scavenger Hunt. It will be an optional opportunity for families who enjoy the outdoors. There will be a flyer to complete as participants visit five different playgrounds around Livonia. Those who complete the scavenger hunt will have the chance to win various prizes.

Kennedy’s PTA continues to support various dine outs and field trips. Our second graders are especially looking forward to a field trip to Greenmead in a few weeks.

All in all it’s been a busy and productive spring at Kennedy.

Randolph Elementary

April showers bring May flowers! We are so ready for warmer weather. Aside from the chilly days, our month was amazing. Our Randolph road runners did an amazing job displaying their posters and participating at the Youth Making a Difference award ceremony on April 20th at Churchill High School. We also had one last family skate night on April 27th at Riverside for all the kiddos to enjoy. Skate night is always a popular event for us! We ended April with our teacher appreciation week. Our Randolph PTA put together a cute farmers market style daily themed amazing week. Snacks, treats and breakfast all stocked up for them to enjoy! We are so appreciative of our Randolph teachers! Author Kelly Dipucchio came in to talk to our students about story telling and her job as an author. "Thank you to the Randolph PTA and our excellent library media specialist, Mrs. Zaar, for making this happen. Every family was able to bring home one of the author's books courtesy of the Randolph PTA." Such a great experience for our kiddos. We are excited and looking forward to all our end of year events to come.

Riley Upper Elementary

We just purchased an outdoor permanent gaga ball pit for our school. Just waiting on delivery. It should be installed and ready to play with before the end of the school year.

Finishing up the year by putting all the final details together for Staff Appreciation, 6th Grade end of the year celebration and the Riley Spring Festival.
