Our fall sports seasons are well underway, and we have several individual and team performances to be excited about.

Congratulations to head women’s soccer coach Chris Shaw on the first two wins of his Temple career, including a 1-0 shutout win over Navy at Temple Sports Complex.

And a special shoutout to volleyball senior Taylor Davenport, who leads all NCAA Division I student-athletes in kills and points and ranks in the top 10 nationally in five different statistical categories. Keep it going, Taylor! Go Owls!

Just before our football home opener on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Coastal Carolina, we were happy to have Temple Security Officer James Adams, CLA ’86, on the gridiron to call the coin toss as the team’s honorary captain. Adams, a longtime Temple security officer and Temple Made, is the father of John Adams, a wide receiver for the Owls. The senior earned a full scholarship with the team after making a full recovery from a broken leg, which happened during a game in November 2023. Read more HERE.

Temple field hockey student-athlete Tess Muller provided fans at Lincoln Financial Field a sterling performance with her rendition of the national anthem prior to the football game vs. Coastal Carolina. A senior from the Netherlands, Muller is a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection. The Owls open BIG EAST play on Friday at No. 14 UConn before returning home to face local rival La Salle at Temple Sports Complex on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Beginning with this football season, the Temple Sports Radio Network has transitioned to a new, easily accessible platform at owlsports.com/listen.

This means that listening to the Owls' football, men's basketball, and women's basketball games is now more straightforward than ever. There's no need to download an app and there is no cost involved. Fans from every corner of the globe can now tune in and hear the games live.

Congratulations to head women’s gymnastics coach Hilary Steele and her husband, Matthew, on having their second child! Hadley Beca Steele was welcomed to the world on September 16, weighing 6 lbs., 2 oz. and measuring 17 3/4 inches of pure joy. All members of the family are healthy and in good spirits.

Temple volleyball players Taylor Davenport and Chelci Banks earned American Athletic Conference recognition for their play at last weekend's Texas A&M Aggie Invitational, helping the Owls to a 2-1 overall weekend record. Davenport picked up her second AAC Offensive Player of the Week award while Banks earned her first-ever AAC Defensive Player of the Week nod. The Owls are in action locally this weekend at the Villanova Wildcat Challenge on Sept. 20-21.

Fresh off a big 1-0 win on the road at Akron, defender Diego Diaz, forward Nathan Brown and goalkeeper Flannan Riley each received Philly Soccer Six weekly honors. Diaz claimed Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week, Brown earned Rookie of the Week and Riley was named to the weekly Philly Soccer Six honor roll. The Owls host No. 19 Charlotte this Saturday at Temple Sports Complex.

The 2024-25 men's and women's basketball non-conference schedules were released last week. The women, the defending American Athletic Conference regular-season champion, have a challenging 11-game out of conference slate that includes four matchups with teams that participated in last season's NCAA Tournament. The men are set to take on multiple opponents from the ACC, the Atlantic 10 and will compete in the second annual Big 5 Classic at Wells Fargo Center.

Both teams begin their title quests with the first official day of practice on Tuesday, September 24.
