The Principal's Pipeline
October 2026
Thanks for the amazing start to the school year!
On behalf of the entire faculty at Hallowell, I would just like to offer thanks and appreciation for your efforts to help us begin the school year as successfully as it has been. Establishing new routines, getting to know new teachers and staff members, as well as settling into all of the nuances of a new school year can be a challenging set of adjustments.
We know that it "takes a village" and this type of coordination is truly a team approach, and it is in the efforts of all involved that makes a positive and lasting difference. We are excited for what this month will bring and the continued ways in which we can support all of the children who attend our school.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Mr. Steve Glaize, Principal

Be a Leader Spirit Day
Therapy Dog Program
We are very happy that our school, as a result of a previous grant from the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation, has a trained therapy dog, Rosie, at our school. This invaluable support will enable us to make a profound difference in our school community, providing comfort, companionship, and healing through the loving presence of our specially trained canine companion.
Community Book Club
Our first meeting is Tuesday, October 6 beginning at 5:30 pm.
Walk this Way Spirit Day
Our annual "Walk this Way" Spirit Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 1. As in previous years, we are partnering with the Montgomery County Health Department, members of the Horsham Police, the Highway and Streets departments, as well as local businesses and family volunteers. It is a great opportunity for us to reinforce the messages of healthy lifestyles and maintaining safety while getting us outside and having fun together! Students will be learning about pedestrian and bicycle safety along with participating in active games and healthy treats. Please see the diagram below that explains how the classes will be moving around our school campus throughout the morning that day.

Halloween Parade and Classroom Parties
On Friday, October 30th, we will be having our annual Halloween parade and classroom parties. At around 2:20 pm, children in all grades will begin parading outside, weather permitting. Visitors, feel free to join us at the field area at that time to watch the parade of children in their costumes. We will be parading along the asphalt paved paths down Moreland Avenue, along Maple Avenue, and then back up the path into the school building. You are welcome to watch from the sidewalks or on the grassy areas as we pass.
Immediately following the parade, we will then have our classroom parties. In the event of inclement weather, our intention is to try and livestream an indoor parade via Microsoft Teams around 2:20 pm, and the classroom parties will begin around 2:35 pm and conclude at 3:15 pm.
We are necessitating preregistrations for all volunteers who will enter the building for this event. Volunteer help for the classroom parties is being limited to no more than four individuals per classroom. With the assistance of our Home and School, volunteers help is being organized by our Room Captains, and any communication about what might be needed is coming directly from those homeroom leaders. If you wish to contribute in some way, please reach out to the Room Captains directly. All classroom volunteers must also secure their background clearances and obtain a volunteer badge from the school district’s Administration Building. Volunteers will wear a bracelet while in the school building.
We will be admitting volunteers who are assisting at the classroom parties beginning around 2:10 pm (1:50 pm for grades K and 1 ONLY). A check-in table will be placed at the main entrance. Parking for families will be available in the main parking lot. Staff will park at the rear and side lots on that day. Volunteers may go to the main entrance to drop off any supplies, and staff members will be available to assist you.
Please do not have your child wear their costume to school. Instead, have your child bring his/her Halloween costume in a bag labeled with his/her name. Please do not have your children wear face paint. Make sure that the costume does not include any plastic knives, guns, swords, etc. as they are not allowed on school property.
In the Hatboro-Horsham School District we are proud of the many academic and non-academic activities we provide for our students and families. During those events, we are always mindful of maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone involved. We thank parents and families in advance for their assistance in ensuring our students enjoy the activities.
After the conclusion of the classroom parties, if classroom volunteers are taking their children home before the regular dismissal time of 3:30 pm, please sign your child out of school using the paper provided by the homeroom teacher.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and efforts.
