Cougar Connection

April/May

Cougar ConnectionApril/May

Dear Colbert Families,

Happy Spring! Just a quick reminder that our state testing for grades 3-5 begins next month!

These tests are essential for evaluating the progress and proficiency of our students, and we appreciate your support in ensuring they are well-prepared. To facilitate a smooth testing experience, we kindly ask for your cooperation during this time:

1. **Rest is Key**: It's crucial for students to get plenty of rest leading up to and during the testing period. A good night's sleep will help them perform to the best of their abilities.

2. **Appointment Scheduling**: If possible, we encourage families to schedule appointments around our testing days. Minimizing disruptions during testing hours will create a conducive environment for our students.

We understand that this can be a busy time for everyone, but your assistance in ensuring our students can focus on their assessments is invaluable. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the testing schedule or preparations, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Below you will find our building state testing schedule. Classroom teachers will send out testing days and times that are more specific to their own classroom soon.

Warm regards,

Cari Trowbridge

Principal

We Need Your Help!

We are happy to join forces with Vitalant and the Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest to participate in the STEM Grant Program. Last year we received a $3,500 grant through this program and that is our goal for this year as well. How can you help? Click on the link below and sign up to donate blood during our blood drive on May 29.

About Vitalant

Vitalant (formerly Inland Northwest Blood Center) is the only blood provider to more than 35 hospitals across the Inland Northwest, and nearly 1,000 hospitals across the country. Vitalant needs at least 200 donors each day in the Inland Northwest to meet the needs of our local communities. Vitalant is a 501(c)3 non-profitorganization.

District Nutrition Policy

As the holidays approach I just wanted to give our families a reminder about our Policy 6700 around Nutrition. As a district we are allowed to have only one class party a month with snacks that are not Smart Snacks. We encourage our families to contact their child's teacher for alternative ways that birthdays can be celebrated in the classroom. You can find the policy at the link below.
