๐ Sun, Success, and Celebration: This Week at Benhurst!
โโ๏ธ A Week of Sun and Celebration!
โWhat a fantastic, eventful week it has been! With high temperatures matching our high spirits, the countdown has officially begun. As we fast approach the end of yet another incredible school year, this week has been all about celebrating our successes and embracing our favorite traditions.
โHere is a look back at what our amazing community achieved this week:
โ๐ Celebrating Our Shining Stars
โEarlier this week, the LIFE Education Trust awarded six of our outstanding Year 6 pupils in recognition of their commitment and achievements. It was a truly delightful experience for the pupils and their families to enjoy such a wonderful evening.
โAdding to the magic of the occasion, our very own cheerleaders marked the event by performing their incredible routine for everyone to enjoy. They brought the energy, the talent, and an immense amount of pride to the night!
โ
๐โโ๏ธ Sports Day: Fun, Games, and... Aliens?
โWe were thrilled to welcome so many families to our annual Sports Day! With beautiful weather, fantastic enthusiasm, and plenty of fun-filled activities, it was a truly memorable day for everyone.
A heartfelt thank you to all our families for their understanding and flexibility in accommodating the last-minute changes we made to ensure the wellbeing of our children during the scorching heat. Your support and cooperation were greatly appreciated and helped make the day such a success.
โHighlights of the day included:
โThe Parents' Race: Our parents showed serious competitive spirit, tearing up the track to the cheers of the crowd!
โThe Staff Race: This year featured an interesting spinโmind that alien! A hilarious and memorable moment for everyone watching.
โThank you to everyone who came out to support, compete, and cheer.
โ
๐ฅช Year 2 Get Cooking!
โOn Thursday, our Year 2 pupils tied on their aprons and turned into mini-chefs for the day! The classrooms were buzzing with excitement as they enjoyed a fantastic sandwich-making session. They practiced their spreading, layering, and independent skillsโand the results were delicious!
๐ถ๐ธ๐ฅRocksteady concert๐ค๐ถ๐ธ
A huge well done to all of our talented young musicians who performed in this week's Rocksteady concert. It was wonderful to see their confidence, enthusiasm and musical skills shine on stage after all of their hard work and practice.
A warm thank you to all of the parents and family members who attended to support our performers. Your encouragement and applause made the event even more special, and we know it meant a great deal to the children. We are incredibly proud of every performer!
Summer Fete
๐ซ๐คนโโ๏ธ๐ชWe would like to say a huge thank you to Friends of Benhurst and all the volunteers who brought us such an incredible summer fete! Stay tuned for next week's edition for the highlights

Sunshine Badge Winners
Welcome to Year 4 Newsletter!
Computing
In computing this term, our Year 4 students have been transforming from digital consumers into digital creators by building their very own video games using Scratch! This block-based coding platform allows the children to snap instruction blocks together like puzzle pieces to control characters, trigger sounds, and design interactive backgrounds.
English
The Iron Man! We have been writing descriptively in English; imagining ourselves as Hogarth in the story. We have looked carefully at the use of personification, metaphors and the impact of short direct sentences. To go along with our narrative we have also been learning about The Water Cycle and using key vocabulary
Maths
This term, our Year 4 mathematicians are stepping into the shoes of explorers and cartographers as they dive into the world of coordinates and grid systems! Following the White Rose Maths curriculum, the children are mastering the first quadrantโlearning how to read, plot, and even draw 2-D geometric shapes on a grid using coordinate pairs. They are also discovering the concept of translation, which involves moving shapes up, down, left, and right across the plane.
