Weeks 1 & 2 Reflection
Wow! What a fantastic first two weeks of school it has been! Our students are already rocking and rolling in specials, small-group instruction, learning stations, and classrooms have even started using Tulley’s Garden! It is wonderful to see our Tigers hard at work, learning, growing, and settling into their routines.
This has been, by far, the smoothest starts to a school year and first day of school I have ever experienced. That is a true reflection of the incredible partnership between our staff, students, and families. Thank you for all you do to support WCHE and help make our school such a special place. We are off to an amazing start, and I know it is going to be a GREAT year to be a Tiger!
Upcoming Dates
8/20: Lake Travis Community Library Bookmobile @ WCH Park 3 - 4 pm
8/27: Tigers' Backyard Bash 5 - 8 pm
9/7: No school today! Happy Labor Day!
9/8: Curriculum Night 5 - 7 pm
Updates/Reminders After Week 1
Kinder & 1st Grade Drop Off: A quick note to remind families to remain in your vehicle during morning drop off. Our staff members are ready to assist by opening car doors, unbuckling seat belts, retrieving backpacks, and helping children exit safely. Please keep your vehicle in line and refrain from passing other cars or buses, as students may be crossing in areas you cannot see.
Lunch Visitors: You are welcome to join your Tiger at lunch starting August 31. Be sure to bring your photo ID when you visit campus!
Tardies Start at 7:40: While this is a change from previous years, we shut the front doors at 7:40am. Parents will have to walk their child into the front office to check in and receive a tardy pass at that time. Instruction begins at 7:40am, so please have your students here on time!
Backyard Bash!
Calling all Tiger families! Join us next Thursday, August 27th from 5-8pm for an evening of food, fun, and connection as we celebrate the start of a fantastic new school year! Bring your lawn chairs (if you’d like!), invite your neighbors, and come enjoy time with other WCHE families while the kids play, have fun, and make new friends.
Here are a few of the exciting things we’ll have waiting for you:
- Inflatable bounce houses (including one for our littlest Tigers!)
- Yard games
- Tattoo station
- It’s All Good BBQ Food Truck
- Alsie’s Ice Cream Truck
- Spirit wear
We can’t wait to bring our Tiger families together for a fun evening and celebrate the strong start we’ve had to the school year. We hope to see you there!
Attendance Numbers!
Our Tigers are off to an AMAZING start with attendance! Our average attendance rate for the first 7 days of school was an incredible 98.82%!!!
Strong attendance makes such a difference. Every day at school gives our Tigers more opportunities to learn, grow, connect with their teachers and friends, and be part of all the great things happening at WCHE!
Way to go, Tiger families! Thank you for making attendance a priority and helping us start the year so strong. Let’s keep it going and see how high we can keep those numbers throughout the year! Every day counts, and every Tiger matters!

Once Upon a Club on Tuesday Grades 1-2
Once Upon a Club is a fun and engaging opportunity for 1st and 2nd grade students to grow their love of reading! During each session, students will listen to or read Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman. Students will participate in discussions and activities about the story and complete a creative craft connected to the book’s theme, characters, or setting. Throughout the 8-week club, students will also enjoy a special themed snack during each meeting and will get to keep a copy of the book. Once Upon a Club encourages imagination, comprehension, creativity, and teamwork while making reading exciting and meaningful for young learners.
