10.6.25 Providencia Elementary School Newsletter
Dear Providencia Families,
Thank you to our PTA for hosting such fun events last week! Appreciations everyone who supported Family Art Night (shout-out to Jackie Morrison for chairing the event), Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser (thank you for Julie Ontiveros for setting up our monthly restaurant nights) and our Spirit Assembly!
If you attended Coffee with the Principal, you also met our new crossing guard, George Contreras. To ensure everyone's safety he kindly asks pedestrians to only step off the curb when he blows his whistle. He will safely cross you when cars have cleared. Please welcome George to the Prov community!
You have by the end of this week to create a Reflections art submission in the following categories:
We have plenty of FREE art canvases leftover from our Family Art Night. If your child needs a canvas, please email Jackie at providenciareflections@gmail.com.
Looking forward seeing to all the creative Reflections submissions! Cheers to a great week!
Respectfully,
Principal Celeste

October DEIB Observances
At Providencia we are committed to addressing ways to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where all students, especially students of color and/or those who have been historically marginalized, are respected and valued. With our diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts, we foster a school culture of inclusion, we celebrate our diversity, and students see themselves reflected in our curriculum.
DEIB provides us an opportunity to learn and recognize the contributions and accomplishments of historically marginalized groups. Throughout the month we’ll feature websites and book recommendations, local celebrations and resources.
Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging Displays
We are working on DEIB displays in our office and student hallway with artifacts and pictures of historical figures. If you would like to display an artifact (i.e. art, clothing, accessories, books) to represent any of the observances below, please label it with your child's name and bring it to school. We will return it at the end of our October observances. Thank you!
