Francestown Elementary Roars with Lion PRIDE!
On Friday, Francestown Elementary was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our students' unwavering commitment to our core values: positivity, responsibility, independence, determination, and empathy. We proudly earned a total of 10 large paws, setting the stage for an upcoming spirit day at FES. The day was filled with joyful learning moments, including a captivating presentation by our K-1 students, heartfelt birthday celebrations, and a delightful community lunch. Together, we continue to foster a culture of excellence and camaraderie at FES. Go Lions!

Embracing Nature and Earth Day Fun!
This month, Lion's Learning was abuzz with activities celebrating our natural world. Students delved into the wonders of wildlife in our backyard alongside Kara from the Harris Center for Environmental Education. Geocaching adventures led by Ms. Doell added an exciting twist, with students navigating using real compasses!
Our gardens flourished under the guidance of gardening and pollinator expert Kelly Marshall, as Mrs. B. and students prepared the beds for the upcoming summer. Earth Day was marked with fervor as Ms. R. and Ms. Sanchez organized a thrilling scavenger hunt, showcasing our commitment to local habitats and our precious planet.
Here's to embracing the beauty of nature and nurturing our connection with the Earth!"

Elderberry Tree
Thank you to the Francestown Conservation Commission for celebrating Earth Day with us. Every child went home with an Elderberry seedling to plant. This will provide a habitat and food for our local wildlife.
Learning Comes Alive with Mrs. B.
Piggy and Gerald Visit FES
Our week in kindergarten and first grade has been great! We continued to work on subtraction in math for kindergarten and 1st grade this week. This week we finished our author study of Mo Willems and his Elephant and Piggy and Pigeon books. Students presents at the PRIDE meeting about what book was their favorite and why. Students really enjoyed the Mo Willems book!
Ms. Sanchez's Class Leans into Learning
Geography Experts
Second grade started working on their geography unit. The first step was to apply for the job of a geographer. Once they found out that they got the job, they were able to start working hard on their map books to strengthen their map skills.
Hands-on Learning with Mrs. Doell
A Busy Week in Mrs. Doell's Class
Outdoor PE, fun Science, PRIDE, Community Lunch, and OLL! What a great way to celebrate school, spring break, and great weather!!
In Science, we explored two topics related to some spinners that custodian Mr. Josh made for us. (He has a 3D printer.) They spin with gyro action, and they glow in the dark! We researched both topics and learned a lot! And Mrs. Doell was letting us use a toy!!! For scientific reasons, of course.
Have a great vacation, everyone.
A Word From Ms. R.
Not the Mini Golf From you Childhood!
Students in all grades continued their work with our "lollipop paddles" and various sized and shaped objects this week. Through exploring paddle stations, competing in the ultimate game of lollipop paddle battle, and enjoying the challenging game of mini golf; students worked on using a short-handle implement to practice their hand-eye coordination and hitting a stationary, and moving target. Third and fourth ended their week with the Fitnessgram Test; while kindergarten and first grade worked on communication, teamwork skills, and strategy to complete a challenge with mini parachutes.
In health, third and fourth finished their unit on exercise and the cardiovascular system with the trivia game Kahoot. Second grade explored the cardiovascular system also, but with the help of the Magic School Bus; and kindergarten and first grade began their unit on the respiratory unit.
