Mrs. Nesbit's Class Participates in Fat Bear Week
This week my students will be participating in Fat Bear Week! It is a week that celebrates bears who have gained a considerable amount of weight from summer until now to prepare for hibernation. There is a national voting contest to determine who the "fattest" bear is at Katmai National Park in Alaska. This week my students will be studying brown bears and hibernation. We will also be voting on who we think is the "fattest" bear. I have created a bulletin board outside of my room with all of this year's candidates. We would love everyone to participate in our voting to help as we graph who we think will win!
As you come down the green hallway for music and art this week, feel free to have your class spend some time voting on who they think will win. You can use the QR code to cast your votes! If you would like the link to the form, let me know and I will be happy to send it. Happy Fat Bear Week!
Lombardy Strive Team Care Bag Project
What Are Care Bags?
Care Bags are created for individuals and families who may be experiencing a time of need. The bags may include toiletries/personal-care items (Travel size toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissues, and deodorant), and/or small food items (cereal, cup of soup, 8oz bottles of water, and cocktail) that can provide comfort and help meet every day needs.
Why Are We Doing This Project?
The goal of this project is to encourage our students to give back to others and understand the importance of serving their community. Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to:
- Learn what it means to serve and care for others.
- Develop empathy and compassion for people in need.
- Understand the importance of taking care of our community.
- Recognize how small acts of kindness can make a difference.
- Experience the joy and sense of purpose that comes from helping others.
We are currently working to partner with community organizations and businesses to obtain donations for the care bags. If you would like to contribute to this project, please feel free to fill out the attached document. As our project develops, we will share additional information about how families may participate and support this meaningful effort.
We appreciate your support as we work together to help our students become compassionate, caring, and community-minded individuals. Together, we can show our students that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
Please review and return the below Google form.
Thank you for supporting our students and this important community service initiative!
With appreciation,
Strive Team

Walking Together for Peace
Lombardy staff members, along with colleagues from across the Brandywine School District, are continuing the meaningful tradition of participating in community Peace Walks. These walks began several years ago as a way to promote unity and peace in an area of our community that has historically been impacted by violence.
By walking together, we demonstrate our shared commitment to creating positive change and building a safer, more peaceful community for our students and families. We are proud to stand united in support of peace, hope, and a brighter future for everyone

• The Board of Education accepts no responsibility for the program; rather, it acts as an intermediary to offer a group student insurance plan for your consideration.
• The insurance program is voluntary. If you wish to participate in the program, please submit your online application to: https://claims.agspecialtyinsurance.com/portal/delk12/
Volunteer Application Update
As a reminder, all chaperones in the Brandywine School District are required to complete a background check. Once completed applications are submitted to our main office, they must be forwarded to the district office for additional review. This district-level process typically takes 7–10 days.
After the district approves a clearance, they notify Lombardy Elementary, and our front office will then send an email confirmation to the parent/guardian.
Please remember that chaperone clearances are valid for one calendar year from the date of the background check, not from the date the district gives final approval. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to keep track of the clearance expiration date.
If you would like to check the status of a pending application or confirm the expiration date of an existing clearance, please feel free to call the main office at any time.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

Office Reminders
