Leadership Letter
Dear Legacy Families,
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Teachers work very hard to ensure each student in their classroom is receiving a quality education. As I have said before, teaching is a multi-faceted profession. Teachers work to analyze and monitor student data, prepare lesson plans, troubleshoot problems, manage classroom behavior, deliver quality instruction, and handle many of the other unexpected things that come up during the school day. Above all they care about your kids and provide a safe place for them to learn each day. So help us celebrate teachers this week!
Additionally, we have a couple of weeks left before the summer break! As we get closer to the end of the year, please encourage your student(s) to finish this school year strong. There is still time to learn wonderful new things!
I appreciate everyone out there in our school community and want to express my gratitude for you choosing Legacy Academy this school year. The administrative team is continuing to review all of our community feedback from this year. We will continue to strive to make each year at Legacy better than the last. As always, feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tony Vruggink
Principal
Stampede to Read
Thank you to those who participated in Stampede to Read! The process to redeem the certificate for tickets has changed this year. Parents will have contact information to call or email the rodeo ticket committee chair and to redeem tickets for the Sunday afternoon performance only. Certificates will be sent home with students on Friday. Parents with questions or concerns about the new process will have a contact phone number on the certificate for more information. If you have questions before Friday, please email our librarian at angelia.mcgough@legacyk8.org.

Graduation/Continuation
KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION
Kindergarten will attend school on their last day on Friday, May 15th. On Monday, May 18th, we will have their graduation ceremony at 12:30pm. Children will arrive at their classrooms by noon to put on caps and gowns, and parents will be seated in the gymnasium. We have an inventory of caps and gowns for the children during the ceremony. These will be cleaned before we put them on the children. When the ceremony is complete, we ask parents to go to their cars and enter the front carpool line. The children will go to their classrooms to remove their gowns and will be dismissed through the front carpool area
8TH GRADE GRADUATION
The 8th graduation ceremony is semi-formal, so please iron your student’s gown. On Monday, May 18th, your student must be at school from 8-10am for graduation rehearsal and must wear their uniform. Students must be picked up after rehearsal and are not allowed to leave the property on their own. The students must return to school by 4:30pm. and report to Ms. Moore's room, located on the west side of the building, just before the exit doors. Please arrive promptly at 4:30pm so we can distribute cords and sashes and get ready. Only 8th grade students are allowed in the room before the ceremony. The graduation ceremony will begin at 5:30pm and last approximately one hour. There will be a 10-minute intermission after the ceremony while we prepare the cafeteria for the End-of-Year Dance. This dance is for Legacy Academy 8th grade students only. Students will be dismissed out the back east doors and should be picked up promptly at 8:30pm.
5TH GRADE CONTINUATION
5th grade will have a continuation ceremony on the last day of school. This ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 20th at 9:30am.
Lost and Found
We will donate the lost-and-found items on the evening of Thursday, May 21st. Please stop by or remind your child to retrieve any items they may have left behind. Remember to always label belongings so we can return them.
