Sneak Peek
We are excited to invite families who are new to King’s Highway Elementary to a Sneak Peek Event on Monday, August 17, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM! This special opportunity is designed to help students and families become familiar with our school before the first day. Come explore the building and get a glimpse of the spaces where learning and growth happen every day. Whether you're new to the community or joining King’s Highway for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you and helping your family feel right at home. We hope to see you there!
Only select staff will be in the building. Back to School Night will be after the start of school and provide an opportunity for families to connect with teachers and staff.
Returning Student Information
School Supplies
Check out the King's Highway website for a full list of school supplies.
In addition to the general school supplies, all students will need a spill proof water bottle. There are no drinking fountains in the building, instead there are four bottle fill stations to fill up.
Attendance Matters
Regular school attendance plays a critical role in student success, both academically and socially. Missing just a few days each month can add up and impact learning, even when absences are excused. Families are encouraged to schedule vacations and appointments outside of school hours whenever possible and to communicate with the school regarding any absences. By helping students establish strong attendance habits, we can ensure they make the most of every learning opportunity.
If your student is absent, please submit a written excuse note within three school days of their return. Absences may be excused for reasons such as illness, medical appointments, religious observances, or family emergencies. Absences for reasons such as oversleeping, missing the bus, or family trips that have not been pre-approved may be considered unexcused. Please review the district attendance policy using the link provided for complete details.
Volunteer with CASD
We welcome family and community members into our schools and would love to have you volunteer! Whether you are helping in a classroom, working with students, supporting school events, or chaperoning field trips, volunteers play an important role in enriching the educational experience for our students.
To ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone, all volunteers must complete the required clearances before volunteering. CASD requires a Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, proof of a recent Tuberculosis (TB) test, and, for individuals who have lived in Pennsylvania for less than 10 years, a Federal Criminal History Report (FBI fingerprint clearance). Once completed, copies of these documents should be submitted to your child's school, and the clearances remain valid for five years (60 months). An annual volunteer waiver is also required each school year. For complete information and links to all required forms, please visit the CASD Parent Volunteer Information page
