News & Updates
Bobby Seagull has been appointed MBE
Congratulations to our alumnus, Bobby Seagull MBE, who has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s New Year Honours List. Bobby, a broadcaster, author, and mathematics teacher, is currently completing his doctorate at the University of Cambridge. He has been recognised for his services to public libraries.
Visit By England U21 Striker
We were delighted to welcome back Divin Mubama, England U21 and Stoke City striker, alongside three former students who are all thriving in their own fields.
Each has taken a completely different journey: elite football, a self-made car care business, salon leasing, and self-taught trading, yet all are built on the same strong foundations. This photo captures all of them with Sam Bartlett, our Assistant Director of 6th Form.
Future Leaders List
We are very proud of Noel’s achievement and wish him every success in the future.
Alumni Workshop with Year 13 Students
We were delighted to welcome back two of our alumni, Uriel Mofus and Shehbaaz Patel, who returned to share their valuable experiences of securing highly competitive degree apprenticeships with our Year 13 students.
Uriel, now in his third year at Accenture, and Shehbaaz, who has recently secured a place at AMS, generously spoke about their apprenticeship journeys, offering honest reflections and practical strategies for success. We are incredibly proud of all our alumni and deeply appreciative of the continued support they offer to our current students.
New Book
We are grateful to our alumnus, Pete Apps, for sending complimentary copies of his recent book, Homesick, which explores the causes of London’s housing crisis, as well as his first book, Show Me the Bodies, which examines the failures that led to the Grenfell Tower fire and was awarded the Orwell Prize in 2023.
Books by Peter, a journalist and author, are available in the school library. We love to hear from our alumni and greatly appreciate them sharing their published work.
St Bonaventure's 150th Anniversary
We are preparing to celebrate the school’s remarkable 150th anniversary with a series of inspiring and memorable events that bring together current students, staff, alumni, former staff members, friends, and supporters of our community. These celebrations will honour our rich heritage while looking ahead to an exciting future of growth and innovation.

Have Your Name on 150th Legacy Wall
As part of our plans to celebrate the school's 150th anniversary, we are creating a Commemorative Legacy Wall on the Friary Lawn, made from beautifully engraved bricks. Each brick will feature the name of a student, alumnus, former staff member, or individual who has been personally connected to St Bonaventure’s and its community.
Important Details
Each brick costs £25 and includes two lines of text, with a maximum of 16 characters per line, including spaces. Only a limited number of bricks are available, so we encourage you not to miss this opportunity.
This initiative is open to:
- Current and former students
- Past and present staff
- Individuals with a personal connection to St Bonaventure’s
When buying your brick, please do not leave Line 1 & Line 2 (Your Name and Your message) blank or submit an anonymous brick. To process the order of your personalised brick, you must include your name, or the name of the person the brick is for, on line one. Line two can be used for a short message of up to 16 characters, including spaces.
Charity Work
Fundraising has always held a special place at the heart of school life. It unites our community in support of causes that reflect our values of compassion and solidarity, encouraging students and staff alike to make a positive impact beyond the school walls.
Since last November, students and members of staff have raised a total of £6,670 from a variety of initiatives, including:
- The annual Sponsored Walk has raised an impressive £3,740
- Our well-supported Fast Soup Day on 9 October enabled us to donate £511 to CAFOD.
- The Bake Sale, held in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and the Dominican Brothers assisting communities affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, raised a fantastic £255.
- The November Poppy Appeal raised £152.
Job Opportunities
St Bonaventure’s School stands out as a beacon of excellence in East London, where every member of staff is valued highly and given the opportunity to develop and grow. At the heart of our ethos lies a commitment to fostering a genuinely supportive and empowering environment for all, regardless of background or faith.
