Students and Families,

Class Registration

The rising 10th-12th grade parent meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, February 24 at 6:30. The meeting will take place in the SHHS auditorium. Students received a registration packet today with important information.

If you cannot attend, we will record the meeting and post it on our website. Our registration process is designed for parent participation. Please work with your student as they choose classes for next year. We have a class registration page on our website with important information and materials for your student.

Big South Basketball Tournament / Education Day

As you may know, Johnson City is hosting the Big South Conference Basketball Tournament in March. As a part of the tournament, the conference is hosting an education day.

The Big South Education Day is Thursday, March 6. We will dismiss all Juniors and Seniors to the SHHS gym for a program hosted by the conference. At the conclusion of the program, Seniors with a signed permission form will go to Freedom Hall for a college fair and tournament game (Juniors will return to class). The game will end at 1, and Seniors will return to SHHS.

We will also have some traffic and dismissal time adjustments during the tournament. On Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7, SHHS will dismiss at 2:33. Also, no traffic can turn left at the stop sign on Topper Lane (across from the tennis courts). All traffic must turn right and go by the SHHS CTE building.

End of Quarter 3

Just a reminder that the end of Quarter 3 is March 7. All grades for the quarter will be finalized on March 7. If you have any concerns about your student’s grade, please contact teachers or your student’s counselor.

Thank you and Go Toppers!

Principal Josh Carter

Four seniors received a career-defining surprise last week when a university president visited Science Hill to congratulate them on earning acceptance into a prestigious medical school preparation program. East Tennessee State University President Dr. Brian Noland surprised Gianna Becerra, Ellen Hong, Astha Patel and Lauren Yobst in their classes on Feb. 11 with certificates for the university’s Quillen Honors Scholars Program.

The program, a partnership between ETSU’s Honors College and Quillen College of Medicine, is designed to help undergraduate students transition smoothly to medical school. A total of 15 first-year students are selected each year for the program and take part in curriculum and enrichment experiences during their undergrad years to prepare them for the unique demands of medical training. Quillen Honors Scholars receive a $5,000 scholarship per year and funding for a required study abroad program, summer enrichment opportunities and research activities.
