Message from Principal Higgins

Dear Academy Families & Friends,

We had a great week last week. We had many events, but the fun run was the crowning jewel. The field and decorations were perfect. The weather was incredible. The kids looked amazing in their different grade level colored shirts. Grades 1-5 came out of the cafe, through the rainbow arch, and took their places to cheer on the champs...the Kindergarten. Decked out in their blue shirts, they took the field with a thunderous applause. After a few opening remarks, Mr. Murphy DJ'd the event, Mr. Norton led the staff dance party (it was electric), and someone I know got silly string'd by the Kinders! The kids ran in their brightly colored shirts (which I hope they'll wear again on Field Day, June 16th) and they event was a colossal success.

As we near the middle of the month, the harsh reality is the year is almost over. Although it may have felt longer than most "normal" school years...it truly has been one of incredible resilience. Our data teams met this week and the results are amazing. Student performance growth is off the chart, showing just how much our students have grown over the course of the year. As the weeks turn into days, please pay special attention to the list of important dates and check your emails often. Blink and it's over!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for all of your support,

Mr. Higgins

Principal

Love this group of kids..will certainly miss them when the cross over to MWC!

Fun Run breaks $30,000

Wow!!! What a great day we had! I am beyond impressed with the fundraiser and how much our school came together to raise funds for future activities and field trips. The students certainly worked hard, earned their special prizes and had tons of fun on the field.

Thanks to all the spectators who came, the staff (who danced), to the volunteers who helped, and the kids who ran to make this a huge success. Also special thanks to Jen Gerg and Colleen Conners for coordinating the event!

Grade 5 Partners with NEWC

Do you know why NEWC's red tailed hawk is named Falco? Just ask a 5th grader! Special thanks to Jack Banagis who brought in several animals on Friday in the gym! Tortoises, giant pythons, and a whole bevy of fun facts and amazing creatures to bring science to life.

The students in Grade 5 raised over $300 to support the Wildlife Center and many more great programs like this!

Volunteerism Makes ALL the difference!

From fun runs, to field days, to the work behind the scenes...Academy depends on its volunteers. While the last two years, we have been limited to what we are able to do, it is our goal to maximize the connections between home and school as well as to create/develop/enhance the learning opportunities for our students, and volunteers make this possible.

Whether this is your first year or sixth year at Academy, it's never too late to lend a hand. Please be sure to contact the school and the AAPC for more info, but many hands make a heavy load lighter! Field day is on Thursday!!!
