From The District Administrator's Desk

Dear Spartan Community,
I hope you have all had a restful, joyful summer filled with extra time to recharge with family and friends.

While our schools may have seemed quiet over the last few weeks, behind the scenes, our dedicated staff, teachers, and facilities teams have been hard at work preparing our classrooms, updating our facilities, and gearing up for an incredible school year ahead. We cannot wait to welcome our students back!

Consider this newsletter a quick preview of what’s to come. I will be sending out a comprehensive "back to school" email later this month with key dates and everything you need to know to ensure a smooth, successful start on September 1.

For now, please enjoy these final weeks of summer. Thank you for your continued partnership—we are so excited to see you all soon!

Sincerley,

Dr. Amy Starzecki

While students are enjoying a well-earned summer break, our work simply shifts gears. For the Superior Food Service team, summer is one of their favorite times of year because it gives them opportunities they don’t always have during the school year.

The Superior Community Meals Van served up over 3,400 nutritious meals directly to neighborhood parks and community locations, helping ensure Superior children had access to healthy food all summer long. We’re proud of our dedicated team and grateful for the opportunity to serve families where they are. Thank you to everyone who helps make this program a success!

Please see the flyer below for the summer lunch schedule.

WPEN Summer Summit

The 12th Annual Wisconsin Public Education Summer Summit traveled to Lake Superior as the School District hosted about 250 people to Superior High School. This year's theme was “Thriving Public Schools, Thriving Communities.” Community members, educators, administrators, and all those who are interested in public education took part in several break out sessions to learn different ways to support Wisconsin public schools.

Entrance to Superior Middle School

SMS Front Door

After months of supply chain delays, the new front entrance at Superior Middle School is finally taking shape! With the metal door frames now installed and glass windows arriving this week, the project is near completion. The delay was largely due to the extensive scope of the remodel and our commitment to keeping the building secure while school was in session, meaning major work had to wait until summer. A huge thank you to our team for their hard work in making our school look amazing!
