Meet SRO Zaffino
I graduated the police academy from Temple University in 2009. I briefly worked part-time in Tullytown Borough, and I was hired by the Lower Southampton Township Police Department on February 1, 2010. During my time with the department I was assigned to the patrol division. I am also a firearms instructor, active shooter response instructor, and I am assigned to the regional SWAT team that covers Lower Southampton Township. The township and school district worked together to establish the position of School Resource Officer (SRO) in the beginning of 2019. Interested members from the department were interviewed by representatives from both the police department and the school district. I was selected, and I have been the SRO for Lower Southampton Township since April 2019. I have attended both basic SRO and advanced SRO training which was over 60 hours of training to prepare me for this position. I have been married for five years, and we have a German Shepherd named Bernie. I have trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past six years.
Mrs. Wendling's First grade class was lucky to have Officer Joe come in and teach the kids how the primary colors mix to create the secondary colors. They read the book Mouse Paint and created three silly mice. Their feet are in puddles that are the primary colors and their fur is colored in with the secondary colors.
