Bobcat Bulletin
October 16, 2026
Greetings, Moretown Community and Caregivers,
From fresh apple cider to preparations for Halloween, the joys of fall have been woven into our week at Moretown School.
We are proud to congratulate our very own Liz Ather on receiving the HUUSD Outstanding Educator Award for the 2026–2027 school year! As our interventionist, Mrs. Ather works with every student and staff member in our school. She is a fierce advocate for children, helping ensure that each student has the support, materials, and connections they need to succeed. You can often find her teaching “Literacy with Liz” in preschool, leading our Drama Club, hosting WIN groups, or greeting students in the hallways. Her warmth, humor, and grounded perspective make her an invaluable member of our community. Please join me in celebrating Mrs. Ather and all that she brings to Moretown School.
As Halloween approaches, we are collecting candy donations through Monday, October 26, so our after-school students can deliver them to neighbors in time for trick-or-treating. If you’re able, please consider picking up an extra bag or two and dropping donations off at the main office. Thank you for helping support this neighborhood tradition!
We also want to thank Melanie Grubman of Living Tree Alliance for sharing her time and apple press with us this past Tuesday. Melanie guided our students through the cider-making process, and everyone had a chance to enjoy the sweet results. We are grateful to have her as a local resource. She also offers a program on our Wednesday early release days; you can find more information in her flyer in the Community Offerings section of this week’s bulletin.
A reminder that next Wednesday, October 21, is an early release day. Dismissal will begin at 11:20 a.m., and students riding the bus should arrive at their stops three hours earlier than usual. Please update PickUp Patrol by 9:15 a.m. that morning.
Thank you for the many ways you support our students, staff, and school community. I hope the weekend brings your family time to rest, connect, and enjoy a little of the season. I look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday.
Ms. Kate

Early Release Wednesday Farm and Forest Club @ Living Tree Alliance

Where: Living Tree Alliance Collective Farm Living Tree Lane, Moretown, VT
URL: https://www.livingtreealliance.com/events/early-release-day-farm-club-oct
Experience the magic of Living Tree's farm camp during the school year at our Early-Release Day Farm Club! On early release days, youth in grades 1–6 come together to explore our farm campus, where we raise vegetables, fruit, sheep, and chickens. Our campus is surrounded by forest and river trails, and features an adventure playground with treehouses, swings, climbing structures, a gaga pit, and a tree net strung in the forest canopy.
Our programs change with the seasons. We start with free play, then rotate through hands-on stations (planting, cooking, crafting, or exploring the farm's bounty) before heading out on the land for a river walk, a hike, or snow play.
