Blooming Prairie Intermediate/High School Family Newsletter
Quarter 1 Ends Thursday, November 5
Next week will mark the end of Quarter 1 at Blooming Prairie Intermediate and High School. It has been unusually warm and we look forward to sharing the progress students have made during the first 9 weeks of the year.
On Friday, November 6, teachers will be working on closing out the first quarter along with doing some learning for the new reading requirements. There will be no school for students on Friday, November 6.
Teachers will submit all Quarter 1 grades by Tuesday, November 10, and all official grades will be released into JMC on Friday, November 13. This also means athletes who are not passing classes will face probationary status. All information can be found in the student handbook.
Band Concert Friday, October 30
The first band concert of the 2026-2027 school year will be held on Friday, October 30 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
If you would like to share the concert with someone out of town, it will be live-streamed at THIS LINK.
Student Supervision at Home Games
As we move into the winter sports season, we look forward to welcoming our students and families to basketball and wrestling events throughout the season. Gathering to celebrate our athletes as a community keeps the Blossom family connected through the long winter months.
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight an issue that has appeared more frequently in past years. It is important for all students to be appropriately supervised at all events. If you are bringing elementary aged children to the games, you are responsible for the supervision of those students if they are not in the gym area. The school does provide a dedicated supervisor at each game, but that person is responsible for the flow of the evening and ensuring the games stay on track and the atmosphere in the gym is both exciting and positive.
If students are found to be unsupervised and running around, they will be asked to join their families in the stands to enjoy the game. Go Blossoms!
Daily Announcements
Students in grades 7-12 are emailed Daily Announcements at 8:00 a.m. each day. As families, you can see these announcements posted on the Intermediate-High School webpage shortly after they are released to students.
To find the page, visit the Intermediate-High School webpage and click on the Daily Announcements tab.
BPIHS Student of the Month
Each month, one or more students will be recognized for demonstrating excellent traits of being a truly Awesome Blossom. Teachers submit Positive Shoutouts each week in order to recognize students who make great choices.
For October, 8th grade student Grace Watson received numerous Positive Shoutouts from staff and has earned the Student of the Month Award for October in the 2026-2027 School Year. Congratulations, Grace!
Corrinne Meling
Blooming Prairie Intermediate and High School staff and students mourn the loss of Corrinne Meling who served as a paraprofessional in the building.
Corrinne was blessed with five beautiful children and was equally blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for 21 years. During this time, she was a CPR Instructor for the Blooming Prairie Ambulance Service where she was known for her hand-drawn coloring pages that she created for the children for events and gatherings.
Once her children were all school age, Corrinne became a Paraprofessional at the Blooming Prairie Schools where she worked with students with special needs. She greatly valued her co-workers, work friends and especially the students she was honored to have worked with. She was truly blessed with the love and support she received from the Blooming Prairie community.

Happy Halloween! So many great things have happened in our school this month. We celebrated Homecoming, welcomed many of you to our building for conferences, won Gopher Conference Championships in boys and girls cross country, and showcased our artistical talent during our concerts. And if you haven’t seen some of the artwork displayed outside our auditorium, it’s worth your time. All I can say is WOW!
As we wrap up 1st quarter, please take time to talk to your child about their classes and grades. Your involvement in their school day is important. If you have any concerns, please reach out to the appropriate teacher. We are here to support you.
Registration is open for all winter programming: basketball, wrestling, one act play, and speech. Payments can be made online with a card or in the office with cash or check. Please note that fine arts fees are a one-time fee for all. Our winter sports meeting is on Monday, November 16th at 6:00 in the high school commons. Note the location change. Wrestling will have a separate meeting. That date will be communicated out by Mr. Lassahn.
November is a time to be thankful. It’s also my favorite month as I love Thanksgiving dinner and having time to celebrate with family. To celebrate the month, I challenge all of you to find something every day that you are thankful for. There are a lot of great things happening around us to celebrate. Enjoy the change of seasons and thank you for always being supportive of our school community.
