The First of Many Lasts, and the Last First
Opening Day at Miami Trace is always an exciting time for our staff. The summer months are such a welcome time to spend with friends and family. It's a time for relaxing and rejuvenating. Even so, there is something about coming back to campus and seeing long-time colleagues and friends, and to embrace the start of another school year. For Joyce Schlichter, Opening Day 2024 is a little bit sweeter, and a little bit bitter. This is Joyce's "last first day," and marks the start of her final year as a secretary in the Miami Trace Local School District. We are sure that when Joyce began in 1994, she would never have imagined that 30 years would go by so quickly. She has seen a lot of faces come and go, and she has been a part of thousands of lives. Being a secretary is not for the faint of heart. It requires dedication, consistency, and a smiling face even in the toughest of circumstances. Joyce has been "the glue" that holds our office together. Her wisdom and experience provide stability and comfort. January 1st, 2025 will mark the beginning of a new year, and a new chapter of life for Joyce. She will be dearly missed by everyone at MT. Thankfully, we will get to experience many "lasts" with Joyce in the next 3 months... her last Halloween Dress-Up Day, Fall Picture Day, Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, and hopefully one last Snow Day :) People like Joyce Schlichter have made Miami Trace what it is today, and we are so very thankful for her. Joyce, enjoy every minute, and know that we are all better Panthers because of you!
