Dear Richland Families,

I hope you're enjoying this beautiful weekend! It's not too late to get tickets to our annual Fall Fest tonight. See below for more details. You are also invited to QCSD's Math Night this Tuesday at the High School. Come and hear about K-12 math curriculum. Details are in this newsletter.

Do you have aluminum tabs? Richland's PTO is once again collecting them for donation to Ronald McDonald House charaties. The class that collects the most tabs in our October challenge will win a special prize!. Last year Richland collected 250 pounds of tabs!

On Saturday, October 25, our PTO is sponsoring our first Family Photo Fundraiser. Due to a great response, new day time slots were just added! Check out more details below.

Schools are closed on November 3 for parent conferences and November 4 for Election Day. Please see your child's teacher to sign up for day time conference slots. Teachers will offer in person, virtual, or phone options. Please take this opportunity to discuss your child's progress for the school year so far. As always, we appreciate your partnership in your child's education!

Enjoy your week!

HALLOWEEN PARADE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, at 2:30! HALLOWEEN PARADE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, at 2:30!

Richland Elementary will have a Halloween Parade on Friday, October 31! Students are invited to dress in costumes and parade with their classes in the back of the school on the blacktop beginning at 2:30 (weather permitting). Family members may view the parade in designated areas.

Please note:

  • Students should not wear costumes to school. They should bring costumes with their name and teacher’s name clearly marked.

  • Costumes depicting any violence or horror as seen in the movies, on the news, or in comics, are not permitted.

  • Weapons of any kind, including metal, plastic, wood and cardboard are not permitted.

  • Costumes should reflect age appropriate characters.

Students should not wear costumes to school. They will be provided classroom time to dress in costumes in preparation for the parade.

In order to help ensure the safety and well-being of all our students and staff members, the following procedures will be followed:

  • Parents/Guardians can watch the parade in the back of the school. No visitors will be permitted in classrooms before or after the parade.

  • The parade will begin promptly at 2:30, and students will walk by grade level.

  • Fall classroom celebrations will occur after the parade. Only those parents who are volunteering to help with classroom celebrations will be permitted into the building. Teachers will notify those parents and provide the office a list of parents who are assisting with classroom celebrations before or after the parade.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these procedures. Our concern is for the safety and well-being of our students and staff members. We hope this is an enjoyable day for everyone!

If you do not wish to have your child participate in the parade or the classroom activities that follow, please send a note or complete the form below or let your classroom teacher know. Your child will be provided with an alternate activity not related to this event.

FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR ALL STUDENTS THIS SCHOOL YEAR!

The Quakertown Community School District is now a full Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district, and therefore, all students, K-12, qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch meals at school. Online/paper applications are no longer required to be processed for meal eligibility. Families that have been directly certified by the state will receive an email notification to file for their records.

Please note, this does not include a la carte items or second meals -- students would need funds in their cafeteria accounts for these types of purchases.

If your students have funds available in their cafeteria accounts and will not be purchasing a la carte items or second meals during the 2025-2026 school year, a parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool may request a refund. Please email sreiss@qcsd.org with each student's name, grade and mailing address for confirmation. Checks will only be made payable to a parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing the refund from the time of request.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please email the Business Office secretary at sreiss@qcsd.org.

Dear Richland Families,

Fall brings beautiful leaves—and unfortunately seasonal allergies. Ragweed pollen, mold, and dust can cause sneezing, itchy eyes, and runny noses. Here are a few quick prevention tips and a few helpful links.

Prevention:

Keep windows closed on high pollen days.

Shower after outdoor activities where exposure to pollen is high.

Ask your child’s doctor if symptoms last more than a week.

Helpful sites:

CHOP Information on allergies

American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology information on allergies.

Pollen Forecast for our area

What is Hay Fever?

Together, we can help our students enjoy a healthy fall.
