Little Trojan News
Centerburg Elementary Newsletter - September 2025
From the Principal - Mr. Thompson
Please check PowerSchool often to keep informed of you child's progress in each of his/her classes. If you need help logging in to PowerSchool, please contact the school.
*Parents please send a note in the planner or to attendance.el@centerburgschools.org for any and all going home changes. After school activities have begun and we need a note if your child is staying after school. One note for the season/year of the activity is all that is necessary. We do not always get a roster of students staying after school from the advisors/coaches.*
Car Loop - Please make sure that you are not blocking the bus loop driveways when waiting in the car loop and the driveways. Let cars in and out of handicap parking spaces. No need to come an hour before dismissal. The whole dismissal process is done in 15 minutes.
Halloween
Parties will take place on Halloween, Friday the 31st. No gore on costumes and no weapons. Please do not wear costumes to school.
Welcome New Staff!
My name is Misty Baum, and I am a special education teacher’s aide in Mrs. Crenshaw’s classroom. Last year I was a substitute teacher before becoming a paraprofessional at Centerburg Middle School. Prior to being in the classroom setting, I used to volunteer in the elementary school cafeteria (due to my son’s peanut allergy) and eventually became the head cook.
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family. My daughter is in 4th grade, my son is in 7th grade, and my husband enjoys doing sports photography for our Centerburg athletes. I also love my pit bull Bailey and my cat Lilly.
I enjoy being the middle school cheer coach and the assistant JV and varsity cheer coach. I also like going to activities and sporting events to support all of the students in Centerburg.
I love listening to music, drinking coffee, traveling, and I love being a part of this incredible community.
I’m so excited for my first year here at the elementary school in the classroom!

Fire Safety
3rd graders learned about Fire Safety from COJFD recently. The students really liked all of the tools that the firefighters use like the long hoses, jaws of life, and chainsaws.
PTO Read-A-Thon
Our students did an amazing job during this year’s Read-a-thon! Together, we collected $3,995 in donations to support future PTO events and activities.
Top Readers: Mr. Lunder’s class with an incredible 11,590 minutes read!
Top Fundraisers: Mrs. Meyhoefer’s class brought in $500 in donations!
Best Door Decoration: Mrs. Gregory’s class took the win with their creative design!
We wrapped up the Read-a-thon with our Color Run Celebration, and it was such a fun way to celebrate our readers’ hard work. Thank you to every student, family, and teacher who participated, donated, and cheered us on!
