Greetings Dealey Community!

“Jamie, I think that you might be so sure that you’re one in a million, that sometimes out there you forget that out there you’re just one in 11.” -Ted Lasso

In high functioning schools with highly intelligent students, it can be easy to miss the lesson of teamwork. I am so happy to say that at Dealey , our students are taught collaboration very early in their montessori classrooms. This social skill is also emphasized in our 4-5 grades which gives our students a cutting edge above the rest. I often hear from Townview & Booker T. Washington staff that students that finish 8th grade from Dealey are remarkable compared to their peers. They are organized, self sufficient and overly prepared for advanced level studies. Their ability to communicate, work as a team and win as a team is a highly sought after skill in all organizations.

Thank you to all of our parents and teachers that attended our SBDM meeting. We are thrilled to roll out our new initiatives in the 4th & 6th grades this coming summer. From 4th Grade FUN groups to 6th Grade Dragon Camp, we have heard your feedback. We look forward to lots of new programming improvements. This week is our 2nd week of STAAR testing on our campus. Let's stay the course and get a win for the TEAM!

Let's Go Dragons!!

2025-2026 Placement Committee 2025-2026 Placement Committee

Dear Dealey Families,

Every May we begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Dealey staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including research-based grouping strategies. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (504, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists.

Best Fit Emails to Teacher Only (Current Students moving to new hall)

We will always consider best fit & your child's personality traits. These details must be emailed directly to your student's teacher by April 30, 2025 for existing students.

New Student Survey (All new students in all grades)

All new to Dealey students & families will receive a survey in the upcoming new family newsletter.

Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:

· Requests for a specific teacher.

· Requests that specific students be placed with your child.

· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.

Summer Notification

Your child’s classroom teacher will be sent out to you by July 31st.

Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling. Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher.

We will not conduct individual conferences or meetings with the administration or counselors regarding placement committee decisions.

Dallas ISD Level I Appeal

If you need to file a placement complaint, you will be required to go through the formal Dallas ISD Appeal process. You will have only 10 business days after receipt of placement to file your formal appeal to the campus principal.

Again, each Dealey student will be hand placed with great care. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!

Sincerely,

Dealey Placement Committees
