NMSHS PANTHER POST
September 6, 2024
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Mr. Goodrich
Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,
Each week the teachers meet on Wednesday morning and we address professional learning as a school. We cover areas related to Learning, Involvement and Community (our main focus areas at Nederland Middle-Senior High School). This past week we reviewed the teacher evaluation system and process for the coming school year. As a part of the teacher Professional Growth Plans we are focusing on one main goal (teachers individually and collectively as a school)
Our primary learning focus this year is to have teachers demonstrate mastery of and expertise in the content areas that they teach. Teachers are working hard to provide instruction that is aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards. Basically this means that teachers are working to plan, teach and assess the curriculum they teach based on the state identified standards. The standards are meant to clearly identify what students should know and understand and prepare them for the next grade level of learning.
It is important to note that when students are taught grade-level standards in their classes, and are assessed along the way during the school year, they should ideally experience one grade level of growth. That is our main goal for each of our students. As a staff we are committed to this goal and will be working throughout the year to accomplish it. If you have any questions about the curriculum standards your student’s teacher are teaching, feel free to reach out and ask them.
Have a great weekend!

Share your voice on school funding
In partnership with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), a team of researchers from the American Institutes for Research (AIR) is evaluating the state’s public education funding system and they want to hear from you.
They’re conducting a short survey, which only takes about 10 minutes to fill out.
The feedback you give will be used as they form recommendations to CDE – about how to best ensure equal educational opportunity for all students.
