The Magic of March
March 4, 2024
Franklin Science and Interest Fair
Each Spring students at Franklin have an opportunity to participate in the Science and Interest Fair. It's a great way for kids to explore and learn more about topics of their choosing. As we strive to foster a love of learning in our students, it's always great to see the amount of work they put into their projects and the creativity with which they display what they've learned. Linked below are more details around the event.
Spring Conference are Near
As conferences draw nearer, teachers and students are preparing to share updates around all the amazing learning that's happened over the past several months. Conferences are a time for us to share with families the successes and struggles that are all part of the learning journey. Watch your email and other modes of communication for details around getting signed up for conference times. We look forward to seeing you all here soon. Below is the Spring Conference Schedule.
Monday, March 11th - 3:20 - 8:00 PM
Thursday, March 14th - 3:20 - 8:00 PM
Monday, March 18th - 3:20 - 8:00 PM
Tax Time Savings
Save Receipts for School Supplies
The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers two valuable tax benefits for parents who purchase school supplies for their K-12 students: the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction. These benefits can reduce parents’ taxes to increase their refund, but are only available for those who keep their receipts. Purchases for most school supplies, field trips, and musical instruments for school band are eligible.
Most Minnesota parents qualify for the K-12 subtraction, which reduces their taxable income. Parents under certain income limits may also qualify for the K-12 credit, which can refund up to 75% of their costs – even for parents who do not owe any taxes. Visit MN Department of Revenue website for details.
Safety vs. Convenience
Every year we face the challenge of completing student drop-off and pick-up safely and efficiently. Every year we hear concerns from parents around the same few things. People shouldn't double park. People shouldn't leave their vehicles parked in the pick-up line for extended periods of time. People shouldn't allow their children to run across the street instead of using the crosswalks. People should just follow the pick-up procedures you share at the beginning of the school year. We agree. But we also can't control people. So we are simply asking everyone to prioritize safety over convenience because none of us ever want to see our Franklin students get hurt. Thanks, in advance, for anything you can do to help keep all our Franklin Falcons safe.

Spring Conference Reminders
- With Spring Conferences approaching, that means the Book Fair is coming soon, too. Volunteers are needed to help ensure this runs smoothly. See the link below and watch the PTO Facebook page for details as the date approaches.
- Another way the PTO supports our school is by providing meals to teachers on conference nights. Thank you to all who generously donated to this cause during Fall Conferences. It was a BIG HIT with the Franklin staff. We are seeking donations again for Spring Conferences to keep staff members fueled up during these extra long days/nights. Details linked below.
Buffalo Wild Wings PTO Family Night Fundraiser
- It's time for another excuse to NOT cook dinner for your family. Our next PTO Family Night Fundraiser is near. Check out the details linked below.
