Eagle Newsand NotesDecember 2025

End of 2025

It is hard to believe that it is the start of 2026 right behind it! It is hard to believe that just a short time ago we were going to work and school without a coat. And, now the temperatures have dropped and risen and dropped. With that can come some icy or snow covered roads. Please remind your student drivers to take their time and leave with a little extra time to get to their destination.

Please remember to enjoy the season and don't get caught up in so much bustle, you don't have time to enjoy it! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Key Club

The Eastwood Key Club has been busy this holiday season by spreading cheer in a variety of ways. First, several groups helped area residents by raking leaves to get ready for winter. Next, club members braved the cold at Otterbein Portage Valley to help decorate for Christmas, and finally, Key Club members bought and wrapped presents for the community's Angel Tree gift exchange.

Final Forms

If you and your student have already completed Final Forms, Thank you! If you have not, we need all students and parents to complete Final Forms as soon as possible. It will help us immensely to assure we have the best possible information. This is true for students that attend Penta as well as those who are here in the building.

Parking Permits

If you plan on having your student drive to school, please complete all necessary documents in Final Forms. The fee for the parking tag is $5.

Parking permits will be able to be purchased at any point during the school year , should your student begin driving later in the year, or acquires a car they can drive daily. They will be available in the office throughout the year. The fee will just have to be paid at the time the permit is purchased. The student will NOT be permitted to purchase a parking permit until the forms are completed in Final Forms by both parent and student. Please note that Deputy Cooper has been making a regular sweep of the parking lot to assure cars parked in our lots have tags, or are just there for a short time.

From the School Nurse!

With all the illness going around, and some of them keeping students out multiple days, please take a look at this and keep it in mind when debating about sending your student to school.

Senior Immunizations

Students who will be entering or are in the 12th grade are required to receive a Meningococcal vaccine. The state of Ohio now requires a first dose prior to entering 7th grade and a 2nd dose prior to the student's senior year. If a dose was given prior to the student's 16th birthday, they are required to receive the second dose. Verification of this vaccine needs to be turned in to the office. If, at anytime, you take your student to get their immunization, please send proof of this to the office.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective layer around the brain and spinal cord. This disease can be fatal or leave those who survive it with permanent disabilities. The meningococcal vaccine is the best way to avoid meningitis.

Section 3313.671 of the Ohio Revised Code states that students who do not provide documentation of this immunization are subject to exclusion from school.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding immunizations, please contact Dannelle Sutton, RN, School Nurse at dsutton@eastwoodschools.org or call the Ohio Department of Health Immunization Program hotline at 800-282-0546, or visit the ODH website.

Medication

Finals Forms has provided some confusion in regards to medication for our students. If your student will need to take medication at school, be it prescription or over the counter, you will need to print out the appropriate form on Final Forms, complete it and send it in to school. You will also need to provide a bottle of medication in its original container. We do not have medication (Tylenol, Advil, etc) to give to students.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the office and speak to the secretaries.

Free and Reduced Applications

If you believe your family will qualify for free or reduced lunches and fees, please go into Final Forms under Situational Forms and complete the 2025-2026 application online. Assure that you complete the page with check boxes that allows the board office to share your status with building secretaries. Processing of approval is automatic when done online. Thank you

Fees - IMPORTANT REMINDER

This is just a friendly reminder about the Board policy regarding participation fees. The Board policy, instituted in 2014, indicates that any outstanding fees must be paid in full, unless you have been consistently making payments on your students fees, PRIOR to the office being able to accept/apply any payments to the athletic participation fees. Participation fees MUST be paid prior to the first competition (excluding scrimmages). This policy also pertains to participation in band and FFA activities. If you wish to go on a payment plan, please contact Mrs. Eaton as soon as possible and set it up.

This is a policy that is set by the board and the secretaries will be adhering to it. If you have a balance, please make arrangements to pay the fees via PaySchoolCentral with a credit card, or in the office with exact cash or a check.

If you would like a copy of the policy, please contact the office and Mrs. Eaton or Mrs. Brown will be happy to provide it to you.

For our families of Seniors: It is also part of board policy that Seniors will not be issued their diplomas until all fees are paid and community service is completed. If you need to set up a payment plan, it is suggested you do this early in the year to ease the burden in May. Please contact Mrs. Jody Eaton to do so at jeaton@eastwoodschools.org or call her at the office at 419-833-3611.

Remind 101

Just a reminder that the district uses Remind 101 to notify families of closings, delays and other emergencies. Please assure that you have signed up or have up to date information in your account. There are instructions on the school's website under the Parent tab on how to sign up!
