Hello Texans,

A ghoulish, spookish month is upon us and even though the temperatures haven't cooled, we are anxiously awaiting for the cooler weather season to arrive! October is National Anti-bully Prevention Month and we are joining forces with schools across the country to raise awareness about bullying and ensure that we are a campus that promotes a culture of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

Our October calendar is filling up with lots of kindness, a few surprises, and some fun activities for everyone. Check out what your counselors have been up to and what's still in store for you the rest of the month! You don't want to miss out! 🎃

Your Neff Counselors completed their Howdy visits re-introducing themselves and the program to our students. Our 6th graders engaged in a getting to know you activity, while our 7th and 8th graders focused on attendance and behavior. In addition, our 8th graders became acquainted with high school vocabulary terms such as endorsements and credits. Lots more coming during the season of transition!

Our September Counselor PopUp was around building community amongst our grade levels. We had a favorite chip "check-in," a Texan mural, and heart rings signifying that our students are the HEART of Neff MS. Be on the lookout for our next one! It just might be a little spooky :)

On Friday, October 3rd we recognized the NISD Decision of Respect Day. Our students and their grade level administrators came together and signed their respective grade level posters. Every student acknowledged and took an oath that they will make the decision to respect every adult and every student here at Pat Neff MS.

Come join NISD as they host an evening of safety in the technology world. A community screening of Screenagers will be shown, followed by a Q&A panel discussion.

Our 8th grade Adv ELA and Musical Theater classes have a wonderful opportunity to see one of their literature books come to LIFE! Permission slips have been passed out and are due Friday, October 10th.

Taki Tuesdays are BACK! Your Texan Child Advocacy Team is ready to surpass last year's attendance goal. Will our 8th graders continue to reign in the top spot? Or will our 6th and 7th graders step up to the challenge? Follow us to find out!

Taki Tuesday started as an Attendance Pop Up initiative we created to encourage and motivate our students to come to school everyday. The best part of this campaign, our students have no clue when the next Pop Up will be or if we will change the theme. For example, we've had "Wacky Wednesdays," "Theater Thursdays," and many other little surprises. We want to see our students here everyday, in every class. Help us ensure your student is here and on time!
