CVU Celebrations
September 11, 2026
Dear Community,
We paused this morning for a moment of silence in honor of the twenty-fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001. Robert Caldwell, CVU Campus Supervisor and volunteer with Charlotte Fire and Rescue, shared the following message:
"Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. None of you were alive when it happened, but the world you live in today was shaped in many ways by that day. Schools and communities across the country will pause this morning for a moment of silence.
We aren’t pausing simply because something happened a long time ago. We are pausing to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that morning—people who went to work or school on an ordinary Tuesday morning and never came home. We also remember the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.
But, when I think about September 11, I also think it is important to remember what happened in the days that followed. At a time when things felt scary and uncertain, people took care of each other. They donated blood. They gave money. They volunteered. Communities across the country and the world reached out to people they had never met to support communities in New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond.
That is what I hope we carry with us today-not only the memory of the tragedy and the lives forever changed, but also the compassion, courage, and deep capacity we each have to care for one another. May we remember that even in our darkest moments, we are never without the ability to reach out, stand together, and offer one another hope.
So, as we take this moment of silence, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate the people in your life and the things you might sometimes take for granted. And, in the spirit of who we are here at CVU, remember that each of us has the ability to take care of each other—especially when it matters most.
Please join me in a moment of silence to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, the first responders who sacrificed so much, and everyone whose lives were forever changed. "

Congratulations
This summer, CVU junior Finn Etter won the U.S. National Championship in disc golf (ages 16-18) and placed third in the World Junior Championship, out of a field of 144 players. He is currently the highest rated disc golf player in Vermont, and he is tied for the highest rated player age 16 and under in the world.
Finn also qualified for the U.S. pro championship in disc golf, which takes place this October in South Carolina. This event is roughly equivalent to the U.S. Open in tennis or golf. Good luck in the tournament, Finn!
Also, during the first weekend of school this year, Finn, Torin Holmes, and Story Holmes represented CVU in the first annual High School disc golf tournament. The three boys had the best score among all varsity teams in the competition. Congratulations, team CVU!
For those interested in watching a pro disc golf tournament, the annual GMC tournament takes place at Smuggler’s Notch next weekend, September 17-20. The best players in the world, both women and men, will be there.
CVU is starting a disc golf club this year.If you are curious about the sport or want to see Finn in action, you could check out the videos below.

Impressive Cafe
A note from staff in appreciation of students taking care of the place: "I wanted to show you how great the cafeteria looked AFTER breakfast this morning. The students are doing an awesome job cleaning up."
The AP Art and Design students just completed their display of Summer work. Given the simple prompt of "apple' the students then produced a variety of interpretations and variations. The work displays a range of techniques, concepts, and media through the multiple stages of abstraction. Make sure to come down to the science wing and admire their work and their fun fall-inspired presentation.

Please feel free to share the event in your Friday events Calendar or in other ways if interested. I've pasted a blurb below to describe the event. Please let me know if you have any questions!
