A Message From Mrs. O'Shaughnessy

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. This past week, the Student Council launched their first event... Spirit Week. What a success! The council surveyed the students to see what they would like, and they put it in place. So much fun for the students and the adults! It was also CS For all Week @ PS88q. Mr. Nolan created an amazing opportunity for families to join their child in class and afterschool. Our students are so savvy and competent in coding and computer skills. It was wondeful seeing all of the families in the building.

On Tuesday, our district is holding a pivot to remote day. ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF ARE IN SCHOOL THAT DAY. The students ARE NOT LEARNING REMOTELY THAT DAY. What it does mean is that our students will log in to their google classroom in school during the day for one task, and then log in at home for a simple task as well. This is to assure that all students and families can access google classroom.

Remember: You log in to teachhub to access google classroom, documents, IReady, etc. See guidance below:

Tuesday night is The PS 88Q Family Celebration!! The PTA and PS 88Q have a night filled with fun for everyone! Come join us from 5:00pm-5:30pm in the gym for some fun crafts, then over to the auditorium at 5:30pm for a holiday concert from Mariella Price and her band, with special guest, Eli Paperboy Reed! It is a great opportunity to meet our families, have some fun with the family and celebrate the holiday season!

Have a wonderful week!

Chess @ PS 88Q

We are so happy to have our DIGITAL CHESS PROGRAM back! Chess was alive and well in school, but the digital platform is back! Each program that NYC Public School students have access to has to go through an extensive screening process, so that student information is never shared. ChessKids has completed this process and is finally approved! Look for upcoming chess tournaments @ PS 88q. All students in grades 2-5 have access to Chess kids.
