Shout out to the Kalamazoo Central & Loy Norrix Marching Bands for their performances at the 3rd Annual Portage Central Marching Invitational on Saturday, September 21st!

On Tuesday, September 24th, 33 KPS students, along with 100 other students from the area, attended Western Michigan University's Bronco Tenor & Bass Day. Students spent the day rehearsing music on campus and performing a concert in the evening alongside the professional choir, Cantus

Kalamazoo Public Schools hosted the West Michigan Orff Chapter for a Professional Development Workshop on Saturday, September 21st at Chenery Auditorium. Six KPS Music Teachers attended the workshop: "The Nature of Expertise" by Dr. Jean Hersey.

Julie Davis, Choir Director at Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts, coordinated the Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) inaugural Musical Theatre College Audition Workshop in Livonia. 32 Juniors and seniors from all over the state came together to receive instruction and coaching on: monologues, dance, vocal technique, and audition music. Braden Davis, former KPS student, and Gretchen Shope, winner of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards), held a Q&A session for all participants. Julie Davis also gave a session on how parents can help their children navigate the Musical Theatre college application process.

Shout out to Stephanie Measzros, General Music Teacher at El Sol Elementary, for serving on the curriculum writing team for the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert.
