Pierce Pointes
October 16, 2026
From the Principal
We appreciated connecting with so many families during Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. It has been a busy and exciting start to the year, and we are proud of our students’ hard work and growth thus far. We are three weeks away from the end of the first quarter, which is ample time to make any adjustments to habits in order to finish the quarter up strong.
Our 5th graders are making a strong transition to middle school—adjusting to new routines, responsibilities, and expectations; and our 6th, 7th and 8th graders are settling in. A big part of middle school is learning, growing, and making adjustments along the way. Sometimes that means not hitting the target, missing an assignment, or not earning the grade we hoped for. What matters most is learning from those moments and making adjustments and working towards improvement.
Middle school is where these habits take shape—it does not happen overnight. It is a four-year journey of growth and progress. Here’s to a strong finish to the first quarter! Celebrate the successes you heard during conferences this week—especially the little ones. Many little things lead to big impacts.
Proud to be a Trojan!

No Silly Questions...
There is no such thing as a silly question!
Please give us a call with any questions. Our main office phone number: 313-432-4700
- Mrs. Arent
- Mrs. Carrier
- Ms. McGlaun
Did your ID badge go on a surprise solo vacation? Don't worry, Trojans!
If you lost your badge or need a fresh replacement, you can pick up a new one in the main office for $3. Stop by, grab your new badge, and keep your school year running smoothly!
Drop and Go Shelf
Please use the Drop & Go Shelf in our secure vestibule. Families can drop forgotten items and go, without having to enter the main office. Thank you for your help as we learn and practice this new procedure together. Please make sure that your child's name is on the item. You will find masking tape and a marker on the top of the shelf for labeling.
Medication
If your student will be taking medication during the school day, feel free to bring the medicine and the form to the office when you pick up your student from registration. The medication forms are in K12 and listed below:
Medication Administration Authorization
Required for all prescription and over the counter medications to be given by school staff.
Self Administration Medication Authorization
This form allows students to carry and use their medication in school. This form is required to be completed and signed by physician, parent, and student.
Lost and Found
Is your child missing their favorite jacket, lunchbox, or water bottle? Our Lost & Found is overflowing and looking for its rightful owners! Please have your student stop by to rescue their missing items before they’re donated. Pro-Tip: Labeling your child’s jacket tags, water bottles, and lunch totes with their first and last name makes it super quick and easy for us to reunite lost treasures with their owners!
Need help staying organized, Trojans? We have good news!
Leftover planners are now on sale in the main office for only $5!
Stop by and grab yours today while they last. They're perfect for keeping track of assignments, sports schedules, and, of course, marking down next Friday's Fun Run!

Self-Care
What is self-care?
Self-care is an essential survival skill. Self-care refers to activities and practices that we can engage in on a regular basis to reduce stress and maintain and enhance our short- and longer-term health and well-being.
“Just like you do on a plane, you need to put on your own oxygen mask first before trying to help others.” -Dean Nancy Smyth
Self-care is not simply about limiting or addressing professional stressors. It is also about enhancing your overall well-being. There are common aims to almost all self-care efforts:
- Taking care of physical and psychological health
- Managing and reducing stress
- Honoring emotional and spiritual needs
- Fostering and sustaining relationships
- Achieving an equilibrium across one's personal, school, and work lives
Each of us may differ in the domains we emphasize and the balance we seek among them.
Each life is unique and has its own unique demands. Consequently, we each must determine what self-care means for us and how to apply it in our life.
