Principal Message
Thank you to all who shared such kind comments following my retirement announcement in last week's newsletter. Also, thank you to those that have registered your child or children for the next school year. According to the district, this is something that MUST to be done now in order to have our numbers accurate for next year. Our office staff is on standby and ready to help if you need assistance. Here is a link to the enrollment/registration page: MCSS Registration.
This week we move into our final month of school and our final few weeks of the school year. Now that state testing has officially come to an end, we have a lot of field trips coming up. If you have any field trip questions, reach out to your child's teacher.
Monday evening, at 6:00 PM in the auditorium, our PTO will be holding a meeting. At this meeting PTO officers for next year will be voted on. Speaking of our PTO, after holding a Donuts with Grown-Ups event targeting significant males in the lives of our children, they are hosting a second Donuts with Grown-Ups event targeting significant females in the lives of our children. Just like last time, due to space constraints, they are asking that no more than one guest per child attend.
Title I Survey & School Funding
If you haven't already done so, PLEASE complete this Spring 2024 Title I Survey knowing that our status as a Title I school allows us to fund back-to-school supplies, instructional materials, and salaries for interventionists and tutors.
As a parent at a Title I school, most of you attended a Title I meeting when we introduced our faculty and staff at the start of the year. At the time, we reviewed the following:
- We are a school that receives federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement our existing programs. We use these funds for additional personnel, instructional materials, technology resources, and family engagement events.
- Both our district and school have plans (improvement plans, engagement plans & school-parent compacts) that encourage a strong partnership between school and home. We work closely with our PTO to host a variety of events that allow families to be as involved as possible.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Our PTO is helping us honor our amazing teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week scheduled for May 6 through May 10! You child might want to decide who they want to dress up like on Monday and begin writing their note to deliver on Wednesday. Since this is the same week as our Spring Book Fair, your child might also want to purchase a book for a teacher's classroom library. Books are always great gifts!

Kindergarten & Sixth Grade Ceremonies
Parent feedback indicated a desire for us to focus on more formal ceremonies for Grades K and 6 rather than attempt ceremonies for all grade levels. Other grade levels (PK & Grades 1-5) will still have end-of-year celebrations in their classrooms. All students will also enjoy Field Day scheduled for Friday, May 17.
- The Sixth Grade Ceremony will take place on Monday, May 20, at 9:00 AM. The ceremony will be followed by a reception in the library. The teachers will be sharing more details in the coming weeks regarding what students should wear and what to expect. The goal is make this event extra special for our sixth graders as they prepare to transition to the middle school.
- The Kindergarten Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 21, at 8:00 AM. Kindergarten Cap & Gown pictures will be taken on April 10 (royal blue cap/gown with a red tassel). Pictures will be taken first thing in the morning and the company will not be able to schedule a make-up picture day. Families will also need to pre-pay for these photos. Regarding the ceremony, teachers will be sharing more details in the coming weeks.
The last two days of the school year, May 21 and May 22, are still scheduled as half days for all students with dismissal at 12:30.
Community Partners
