This Week at NBMS
Oct. 26th - Oct. 30th
🐻 A Note from the Principal
Exciting Changes for the 2nd Quarter!
Dear NBMS families,
As we begin the second quarter, we are excited to introduce several changes designed to support student success, maximize instructional time, and recognize students who are working hard academically and behaviorally. Our goal is to provide students with additional opportunities to succeed while encouraging responsibility, accountability, and positive choices.
📚 NEW! Tuesday After-School Study Hall
Beginning Tuesday, November 3rd, we will offer a weekly after-school study hall for students with missing assignments.
When: Every Tuesday until 4:00 PM
Who: Students who need additional time to complete missing assignments
Permission: Students must have a signed parent/guardian permission slip each week they plan to attend.
Transportation: Parents/guardians will be responsible for arranging transportation home at 4:00 PM.
This is a great opportunity for students to catch up on assignments, improve their grades, and start building stronger academic habits!
🐻 Changes to Our Behavior Punch System
Beginning the week of November 2nd, we are making an adjustment to how we address punches 7, 8, and 9. Rather than automatically assigning a half-day of In-School Suspension (ISS), students who receive punches 7, 8, or 9 will be assigned after-school detention.
Parents will be notified through email, TalkingPoints, or a phone call.
Students assigned detention will be expected to stay after school on their designated day.
Students who do not attend their assigned detention will serve a half-day of ISS the following school day.
Why the change? We want to keep students in their classrooms receiving valuable instruction while still holding them accountable for their choices. Every minute of learning matters!
⭐ NEW! Progress Report Day Celebrations
We believe students should be recognized for their hard work and academic success! Beginning in the second quarter, we will offer fun activities and special opportunities for students who are meeting academic expectations.
To participate, students must have a grade of 70 or higher in ALL classes.
Students who do not meet this requirement will remain in classrooms, where they will receive additional time and support to complete missing assignments or strengthen skills in subjects where they are struggling.
Mark Your Calendars!
November 18th – Progress Report Celebration
December 14th – Progress Report Celebration
Our goal is to give students something exciting to work toward while reinforcing the importance of staying on top of assignments and putting forth their best effort.
💛 Working Together for Student Success
At New Bridge Middle School, we believe that every student can succeed with the right support, encouragement, and accountability. These changes are designed to help our Bears take ownership of their learning, make positive choices, and celebrate their accomplishments.
We appreciate your continued partnership in encouraging your child to complete assignments, monitor grades, and make responsible decisions.
