MAP Testing Continues This Week MAP Testing Continues This Week

Grades 3-5

MAP stands for the Missouri Assessment Program. It is given across the state of Missouri to students in grades 3-8. MAP is required to assess each student’s understanding of essential content in math, English/language arts, and science (5th gr. only). This is not a test that your child can study for. All students will be completing the test on their Chromebooks.

MAP testing will be taking place at Bellerive through May 8. The building schedule will largely remain the same, and students will have lunch and recess at their normal times.

  • 3rd Grade: Friday, May 1 - Tuesday, May 5
  • 5th Grade: Wednesday, May 6 - Friday, May 8

It is very important that your child is at school on each day their grade is testing! We ask that students arrive on time and bring their fully charged Chromebooks!

Please encourage your child to give the test their best!

Opt-In Form for Students Currently in Grades 3-5--Due Friday

As we approach the end of the school year, we want to ensure our students have every opportunity to keep learning and practicing over the summer. To support continuous learning and curiosity, we are excited to announce that students in grades 3-5 will be permitted to take their school-issued Chromebooks home for the summer break!

Having access to these devices allows students to bridge the "summer slide" by engaging with familiar educational tools and exploring new interests at their own pace.

Important Details:

  • Responsibility: While the devices are at home, we ask that you help your child keep the Chromebook in a safe, dry place and ensure it is charged and ready for the first day of school in the fall. Repair fees will still be assessed if a device gets damaged or broken.

  • Safety: Student content filtering will remain active on all devices and will be monitored by the District Technology Department. Any online activity that violates the student use policy will result in the student's account being disabled. We encourage you to continue monitoring your child’s online activity.

  • Resource Availability: Students will be able to access digital resources through the myParkway (my.parkwayschools.net) portal and be able to use them on either their Parkway-issued Chromebook or a personal device.

  • Opting In: We understand that some families may prefer not to have a school device at home over the summer. If you would like to opt in and have your student bring their Chromebook home for the summer, please fill out the Summer Device Checkout Form by Friday, May 8, 2026. Students who do not opt in will return their devices to their teacher during the final week of school.

  • Summer Technology Support: If your student has a problem with their Chromebook or accessing resources during the summer, please contact our Technology Helpdesk at helpdesk@parkwayschools.net or at 314-415-8181, option 1.

Summer Learning Resources:

To help your student stay sharp in reading and math, we recommend exploring these resources found in myParkway:

📖 Reading

  • Epic! / Sora: Daily independent reading and comprehension quizzes
  • Prodigy: Build reading and language skills with engaging, student-driven practice

➗ Math

  • Dreambox: Digital lessons aligned with classroom curriculum

🎨 Creativity

  • Adobe Express: Create images and videos; great for fun and storytelling
  • Canva: Create documents, flyers, videos, and stories

💻 Productivity

  • Google Drive: Access Google’s suite of creation tools; create, organize, and collaborate on work

We hope this provides a fun and flexible way for your children to stay connected to learning. If you have any technical support questions, please contact the Technology Helpdesk at helpdesk@parkwayschools.net or by phone at 314-415-8181, option 1.

Send a Note of Thanks on Wednesday Send a Note of Thanks on Wednesday

There should be a premade Thank You Note sheet in your child's backpack this week. It would be awesome if your student(s) could write a message or draw a picture for their Teacher(s) and deliver it to them. Here is a link to the note for you to print in case the sheet doesn't make its way home to you, and of course, they can create their own note if they would prefer to do it that way.

NEW INFO NEW INFO

End-of-Year Medication Pick-Up End-of-Year Medication Pick-Up

From Nurse Osterholt:

I wanted to let you know that Parkway Health Services protocol now requires that all medication housed in the school health office must be picked up by parents or guardians by the last day of school, Friday, May 22. In order to ensure the safe return of medication to parents, no medication will be sent home with students in backpacks or on the bus/school transportation.

If your student will be attending summer school, please obtain a copy of the signed physician medication authorization form and action plans from your school nurse. You will need to take your student’s medication and the authorization form(s) to the summer school nurse at the beginning of summer school.

Every student who needs medication at school is required by school board policy to provide new signed authorization forms annually. New medication authorization forms and action plans for asthma, diabetes, seizures and allergies can be found on the Parkway website.

Thank you so much for helping us keep all students healthy and safe at school. Please contact me (mosterholt@parkwayschools.net or 314-415-6060) if you have any questions.

4th & 5th Grade Strings Update 4th & 5th Grade Strings Update

From Mr. Wheeler

Our 4th and 5th grade Spring Performance is coming up soon on Monday, May 11 at 7:00 pm in the Bellerive gym.

Please take a moment to look over the following reminders:

  • Who is invited? This performance is open to the public; however, it is mostly attended by 4th and 5th grade students in orchestra and their families. As performances are part of our curriculum and learning experiences, all string students are expected to attend and participate.
  • When and Where? The performance will take place on the evening of Monday, May 11 at 7:00 pm in the Bellerive Gym. Students should arrive by 6:45 pm in order to be seated, warmed up, and ready to go at 7:00 pm. We will also perform for the entire school at 2:45 pm in the gym.
  • What do I wear? Concert dress is all black. Students may wear their strings shirt or any other plain black top with black pants, jeans, or skirt on bottom.
  • How should I prepare? 4th and 5th graders have a checklist of songs we have been working on since our last performance and throughout the year. It is important to play through pieces at home AND listen to recordings to prepare for performances. Learning is a process. Mistakes may be made, and our goal is to do our best and learn and grow from them to do better each performance.
    • 4th Grade Checklist
    • 5th Grade Checklist
  • What else do I need to know? We will have a large group rehearsal and performance for the school during the school day on Monday, May 11th. All string students need to bring instruments and related supplies to school on Monday, May 11th. Because of our large enrollment and all students play at the same time for concerts, students need to bring their instruments to school.
  • Class Schedule Adjustments: There have been some adjustments to the strings schedule due to MAP testing this week. Please see the following schedule for any changes: Strings Schedule during MAP weeks 4/27 - 5/8
