If you child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2025, they will be eligible for Kindergarten this September. It is also okay to wait one year to enroll your child in Kindergarten, if they have a summer birthday and could benefit from an extra year of emotional maturity. We always have some students who start as young six-year-olds, and this is often a benefit to their entire school career. If you have any questions about your child's readiness, feel free to consult with our principal, Melissa Somoza.

How to Enroll

1) Check your address with the Neighborhood School Finder to find out what is your assigned school. Hilltop Elementary is only open to students in our assigned service area for the 2025-26 school year. Proof of your address is required by submitting a utility bill, rental agreement, mortgage statement or other acceptable form with your registration.

2) Register: There are two ways to register: online or via paper forms. Both options are available in multiple languages. Paper forms are available in the school office. The school office is closed from June 30th - August 8th, however you can get help weekdays (except Wednesday) in July and early August by attending the Edmonds School District Service Center or summerenrollment@edmonds.wednet.edu.

3) Provide Proof of Vaccinations: Student vaccines must be up-to-date to start kindergarten. If vaccinations are missing, then students may not begin the school year until they are completed or formally waived with the required paperwork. Make an appointment with your pediatrician for their next wellness child visit, if your child is not up-to-date on vaccinations.
