Message from Ms. Athanson
Greetings,
Thank you for an amazing week! Our students did an exceptional job with "Starts with Hello" week.
This week we celebrated Mrs. Lake in being named our Support Employee of the Year. She is truly amazing and we are lucky to have her :)
We are also fortunate for our amazing PTSA. This month is PTSA appreciation month, and we are grateful for all you do!!!
Last week, 5 members of our Treble and Advanced Mixed Choirs participated in the Florida All State Auditions. These tryouts included a rigorous music theory exam and sight reading in front of a panel of judges. Students have been practicing every week after school since August to prepare for these auditions. We are also excited to announce that ALL 5 of these students passed this first round of auditions. They are:
Angela Dadulla
Gabby LeRoux
Victoria Jimenez Rosario
Kendall Wallace
Kaley Wilson
These 5 students will move on to round 2 auditions in October. Congratulations to our All-state students for their hard work and representing Madeira Beach Fundamental!
Middle school sports seasons are very fast this year. We are getting ready for basketball season to start. All paperwork is due by October 9th. We will notify family when tryouts take place.
Middle school families, soccer season is coming up in December. We are actively looking for coaches for Boys & Girls. If you are interested, please reach out to Mrs. Altenore at altenorec@pcsb.org.
This Friday we have our C2C breakfast. This month our character word was Respect, and we honor those students and their families with a breakfast at 7:15 in our middle school cafeteria. Parking is available on the elementary side of the school as well as the SPC campus. Please do not park under the SPC building.
Our volleyball teams are off to a great start. Our girls have won both games and the boys won the game on Wednesday. We are selling concessions for our home games to help support our PE department in purchasing new equipment. These purchases are cash only.
8th grade students interested in attending Osceola High School please see the attachment below for information on how to shadow a student. This is only open to 8th grade students, and it is considered an excused absence. Additionally, I encourage families to look at high school websites for information on shadowing. Each school has a different process and dates for signing up.
Parents, as previously shared there is road construction on Duhme Road that will impact the sidewalks and possibly traffic. Please see the attachment below for more information.
I am looking at putting together a committee to discuss possible dress code changes for next year. There are a few areas that are repeatedly causing dress code violations, and I would like to examine a better way of defining or changes these for next year. If you are interested please fill out this form:

It is that time of year that we ask families to help complete our media center survey. This survey is designed to gather input and recommendations for materials that you would like to see in our school library media center. It would be great if you can submit your response by Sept. 30, 2026. Thank you!

Fundamentals of the carline...
Drop off begins at 7:15. Students may not exit their car until this time. We ask everyone to pull up all the way to avoid gaps in the line and have an efficient and timely process.
Elementary school:
- Elementary students will exit their vehicle in the designated areas
- Students will head to the covered court area and remain supervised until class begins
- If they wish to eat breakfast, there will be students to escort them to the elementary cafe
- If you have a student in elementary and middle, you may choose either line to use and they may walk to their designated areas
Middle school:
- Students may exit their vehicle from the covered walkway by the middle school office all the way to the cafeteria.
- Students will enter the cafeteria and remail in their until the bell rings to release to class at 7:38.
- Students that want breakfast will enter the elementary cafe to eat and then head to the middle school cafe till classes begin.
Pick Up for elementary begins at 1:55 and 2:15 for middle. Parents, we ask that you not arrive prior to 30 minutes of dismissal. Arriving too early blocks the flow of traffic for visitors, deliveries and early dismissal for appointments.
Early release for appointments: Parents, we understand that students need to be released early from time to time for appointments. We ask that if you need to pick up your student, please arrive prior to 30 minutes from dismissal (ex: elementary by 1:25, middle by 1:45). This will allow you to utilize the carline without issue.
