September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Huntsville City Schools has joined a nationwide effort to celebrate the Attendance Awareness Campaign in September and has pledged focus on reducing chronic absenteeism in the new school year.
Our goal is to ensure every student attends school regularly. Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent—which means missing 18 or more days over the course of an entire school year.
Absences can add up quickly. A child is chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month!
Let us know how we can best support you and your child so that they attend school on time every day. We want your child to be successful in school! If you have any questions or need more information, please contact your child’s school.

Mental Health Services Opt-in
"Huntsville City Schools offers mental health services for your child(ren) in a variety of ways. In compliance with Alabama law, parents and/or guardians must opt-in for their children to receive mental health services each school year – please note that mental health includes typical school guidance services. You may choose for your child to receive some or all of the available services. Without this form, most mental health and guidance services will not be provided to your child unless there is an imminent threat to the health of the student or others or when your child meets with guidance counselors solely related to course selection, course registration, or similar activities."
ACADEMY CHILDREN'S THEATER SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!
The Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School is proud to present our 2023-2024 season! These productions feature approximately 90 middle school students as cast members and technical crew. Did you know that AAA is the only school in the state of Alabama recognized as a Premier Community for Theatre Education? The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) recognizes individual schools that demonstrate outstanding achievement in their efforts to provide theatre access and education to all students. As a Title 1 Magnet School, we are fortunate to be able to provide this inclusive quality theatre experience to these students and the community! Our students are thriving both academically and in the arts because of supporters like you! We are asking for your support as a sponsor/contributor. No amount is too great or small. Will you help?
