Update and community input on school-based health center at PCSH

Dear Osseo Middle School Families,

After further review, the school-based health center mentioned as part of Crest View’s repurposing is going to be placed at Park Center Senior High School instead. There are a variety of reasons for this change, including easier access for more scholars and their families and a more district-centralized location.

Why it matters: A school-based health center is a great way for our schools to help with day-to-day needs of our scholars so that the focus can be on classroom learning.

Your feedback is needed to ensure that the services offered are the most fitting for our district community today and in the years ahead. Please take two minutes to share what you and your family would be most interested in utilizing the clinic for via this anonymous Google Form.

Partnership is making this possible: Our school district was awarded a grant to plan from the Minnesota Department of Health. These dollars will cover start up costs and exploration of the scope of services.

What is expected in the months ahead: The thoughts you share in the Google Form will help our district health team and community partner, Park Nicollet/Health Partners, with next steps. Expect to see the clinic up and running, ready to serve any community member in the Osseo Area Schools attendance area, by fall 2026. Stay tuned to district279.org for the latest on the process.

Winter Self-Care Tips for Middle Schoolers: Stay Healthy & Happy This Season!

As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, it’s easy to feel a little down or tired. But winter can also be a time to slow down, take care of yourself, and recharge for the year ahead. Here are some simple self-care tips to keep you feeling your best this winter!

1. Stay Active, Even When It’s Cold

It's tempting to stay inside and lounge all day, but getting moving is one of the best ways to feel better both physically and mentally. Whether it’s a fun indoor workout, a winter walk in your neighborhood, or a game of tag with friends, staying active helps boost your mood and energy!

2. Get Plenty of Sleep

Winter means earlier sunsets and colder nights. Take advantage of the cozy vibes by making sure you’re getting enough sleep. Aim for 8-10 hours each night to keep your brain sharp and your body ready for anything the next day!

3. Stay Hydrated (Yes, Even in Winter!)

Even though it’s colder outside, you still need to drink plenty of water. Sometimes it’s easy to forget to hydrate when you’re not sweating in the summer heat. Try adding warm water or tea to your daily routine to stay cozy and refreshed.

4. Create a Cozy Space

Sometimes all you need is a little extra comfort. Set up a cozy spot in your room with blankets, pillows, and maybe even some fairy lights! When you need a break, having a peaceful, warm space to relax can help you de-stress and recharge.

5. Take Breaks from Screens

With schoolwork, social media, and video games, it’s easy to spend hours staring at a screen. Try taking a 10-minute break every hour to stretch, read a book, or simply relax your eyes. Your brain will thank you!

6. Focus on What You Love

Winter can sometimes feel a little gloomy, but it’s also the perfect time to dive into activities that make you happy. Whether it’s drawing, writing, listening to music, or learning something new, taking time to do what you love will help boost your mood.

7. Connect with Friends

The cold weather doesn’t mean you have to be lonely! Plan virtual hangouts or safely meet up with friends. Social connection is important for your mental well-being, especially when the days are darker and shorter.

8. Practice Gratitude

Take a moment each day to think about something you're thankful for. It could be as simple as a good book, a warm cup of cocoa, or a kind word from a friend. Practicing gratitude helps you stay positive and appreciate the good things in your life, even during the winter months.

Remember: Taking care of yourself is important, and winter is the perfect time to slow down and focus on your well-being. Stay warm, stay active, and don’t forget to check in with yourself and your friends. You've got this! Stay cozy and take care!
