Dear Eagle Families
Though it looks like next week might force us indoors for recess, we have been reminding students of proper winter attire during these cold months. We do try to go outdoors as often as possible, even if for a shortened period of time as long as the actual or "feels like" temperature gets above 10 degrees. Please help students come to school prepared with coats, hats, and gloves each day. If you need assistance with any of those items, please reach out.
Special notes and highlights:
- 4th Grade Families: We have two important pieces of information for you below!
- Check out the PTO section to learn more about our upcoming annual corn hole tournament.
- Global School Play Day is February 6! More details to come.
Enjoy the weekend,
Andrew Foreman, Principal
We're wrapping up our jump roping unit in wellness! Students worked on individual rope turning skills and built up to long rope practice with classmates.
4th Grade Families
Attention Parents/Guardians of 4th Grade Students,
4th Graders will begin their Transition Strong journey in February as they prepare to transition to the middle school. 4th grade students will visit Zionsville Middle School on February 4th during the school day. Students will hear from current 5th grade music groups and tour Zionsville Middle School. This visit will provide important experiences and information to help your child decide on a music class for 5th grade and become familiar with Zionsville Middle School. You will receive a permission slip from your child’s teacher in the coming weeks.
In addition to this visit, we invite parents and guardians to attend the incoming 5th grade parent meeting on February 4th at 6:00pm at Zionsville Middle School in Eagle Hall. Please enter through door 4 (across from the tennis courts). This meeting will include information about the building, scheduling, courses, technology, extracurricular activities, and overall philosophy at the middle level. Also on February 4th, your child’s 4th grade teachers will be sending an email with two links. One link is to select the music course for your student. The other link is to provide information about your student.
Finally, students will return for a second visit to Zionsville Middle School during the week of April 6th. This visit will include a building tour, locker practice, and more detailed information about navigating 5th grade.
We look forward to getting to know you and your incoming 5th grade student.

Valentine's Day at Eagle= Friendship + Kindness
Eagle Elementary staff and students are excited to celebrate friendship and kindness on Friday, February 13th! Classroom teachers will be working on plans that include notes of encouragement, crafts, community service, and games for the days leading up to, and the week of Valentine’s Day. As a school, we are excited to continue celebrating the day in a meaningful and intentional manner that aligns with our Guidelines for Success, specifically the one that encourages us to Take Care of Others.
We ask that store-bought Valentine’s, trinkets, and candy not be sent from home. Students will have ample opportunities in class to share a note or message of care, kindness, and friendship with peers. We believe that our inclusive, in class activities help guide more meaningful conversations about kindness, reduce waste and expenses from store bought items, and help reduce the negative experience for kiddos who are unable to bring in items from home to pass out.
Teachers will be communicating more specific classroom plans in their newsletters.
For the past 30 years, the Zionsville Education Foundation (ZEF) has worked hand-in-hand with our community to bring creative, meaningful learning opportunities to every student in Zionsville Community Schools.
Each year, ZEF’s work reaches more than 8,000 students and 450 teachers, as well as school counselors, social workers, literacy coaches, administrators, and other dedicated professionals who help ZCS students thrive every day. Your partnership is essential to help continue a legacy of innovation and excellence that touches every classroom in our community.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the past, investing today and impacting the future by making your year-end gift at ZionsvilleEducationFoundation.org.
