Treasurer Update
During our October PTO Meeting, we presented an overview of our Budget Goals for the school year, explained how we generate revenue and outlined how we plan to spend the funds raised.
This week, we're providing a Revenue Recap* to share the amount raised to date as well as how we've raised those funds. The visual below highlights how everyone's contributions combined (big and small) - from attending our events, to paying PTO Dues, to scanning Box Tops - help us reach our fundraising goals.
Next week, we'll provide an Expenditure Recap to share how we've spent funds to date to support our CAS students and staff.
*We operate on a fiscal year calendar of July 1st - June 30th. The Revenue Recap is the amount of funds we've raised since July 1, 2025. It is not our Bank Account Balance! Each school year starts with a beginning balance carried over from the previous year. Additionally, we also have an interest-earning Money Market Account for our PTO reserves.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Evening parentโteacher conferences will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5:00โ8:00 PM. Daytime conferences will be held on Tuesday, December 9, and Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 1:30โ3:45 PM. Please note that all three days will follow a single-session schedule, with students dismissed at 12:45 PM.
Teachers have begun reaching out to arrange in-person conference times. During your scheduled meeting, you may meet with one or more of your childโs teachers. We kindly ask that you arrive on time, as teachers will be conducting back-to-back conferences and have designated time allotted for each family.
During conferences, teachers will share a range of information about your childโs progress, including individual data points such as reading levels, writing samples, and in-class assessments. We value the opportunity to work collaboratively with you and appreciate your partnership as we continue to support your childโs learning and growth
Food Drive: Update
Thank you for your incredible generosity with the CAS Student Council Thanksgiving Food Drive. With your support, our school collected and delivered over 800 lbs of food to help the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry.
CAS: Construction Update
Progress continues at the Central Avenue School construction site as crews remain hard at work moving the project forward. This week, teams continued mobilizing trades and receiving material deliveries while advancing a wide range of site and building activities. Ongoing efforts included township and third-party inspections, review of submittals and RFIs, soil management, and exterior perimeter backfilling.
Inside the building area, interior backfilling began, along with continued underground plumbing, electrical work, and installation of storm piping at the existing building. Steel erection, welding, bolting, and roof-deck installation moved steadily ahead, supported by ongoing surveying and layout work.
Sitewide grading, erosion-control measures, and reconnection of existing storm lines to the new system also progressed. The team held its regular project meeting and began preparations for temporary lighting installation.
We look forward to sharing more exciting updates as construction continues to take shape!

Revised Elementary Report Cards
The elementary teaching team looks forward to sharing your childโs progress with you at our upcoming parentโteacher conferences. As a district, we have worked diligently to adopt consistent assessments that highlight student goals in reading, writing, and mathematics. We value the partnership we share with you in supporting your child's learning journey. It is our hope that you find these conferences meaningful and supportive.
In alignment with the State of New Jerseyโs recently updated literacy and mathematics standards, we have also revised our district report cards. We extend our sincere gratitude to the teachers, coaches, and principals who contributed to this important work. We would especially like to acknowledge our report card committee โMrs. Caruso, Mrs. Garita, Mrs. Herring, Mrs. Kohler, Mr. Letchinger, Mrs. Mahon, and Mrs. Schaeferโfor their exceptional efforts in creating clear, concise, and informative report cards that support meaningful communication about student learning.
We are also grateful to the TJS, KRS, and CAS PTO presidents for their valuable feedback throughout the development process.
It truly takes a village to support our students. During this season of gratitude, I want to thank our parents for your ongoing trust and collaboration, and our educators for your unwavering dedication. We are grateful that our village is Madison.
Please preview the newly revised report cards here.
In case you missed our presentation about the report cards you can watch it here.
Planet Aid!!
I'm sure everyone has noticed that our clothing donation bins have finally arrived!!! They are located outside the old building right by the parking lot if you have not seen them. Planet Aid is an organization that accepts ANY type of clothing textiles you have and want to get rid of. This includes clothes, shoes, backpacks, table cloths, curtains, bedding, towels, sleeping bags etc. For every pound that is donated each month Planet Aid will donate .05 cents/lb directly to CAS!! So if you haven't already it's time to clean out those closets! Planet Aid will be monitoring and cleaning out the bin at least once a week. For more information you can go to their website! I have attached some quick links for you. I am very excited for this opportunity for CAS to help better our school, community, and environment!
MEF Grants - donate now!
Dear Madison Parents and Community,
This fall, we have received dozens of amazing MEF grant submissions from Madison Public Schools teachers. Their bold and innovative ideas enrich curriculums, engage and inspire students, and strengthen our public school district.
When our educators dream big, our students discover that they can reach high, too.
Interactive children's author visits, grade wide โbook tastingsโ and the โOne District One Bookโ program are just a few examples of how MEF funding boosts the school experience for elementary school students.
We need your help TODAY to continue the forward momentum and the positive impact of MEF grants in our schools.
Your donation RIGHT NOW will ensure we can fully fund this fall's thoughtful, creative, and exciting grant cycle. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by Friday, December 5, 2025. We know we can succeed with your incredible generosity. A donation in any amount helps our schools and Madison community thrive. Make your contribution here [https://mefnj.networkforgood.com/projects/264148-fall-2025-grants].
Thank you for helping us move education forward.
Sincerely,
Marlena Fass
