Superintendents Message Superintendents Message

Greetings Wilmington Community,

As I enter my seventh year at WPS, I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such an exceptional educational community. It has been a privilege to work alongside our dedicated and talented staff, a supportive and committed School Committee, and an outstanding leadership team.

Almost two years ago, my family relocated our primary residence to Cape Cod for my daughter to complete her high school education. Since then, I have maintained a residence near Wilmington and commuted home on weekends.

Recently, the Superintendent position for Nauset Public Schools on Cape Cod became available. After thoughtful consideration, I felt compelled to explore this opportunity for myself and my family.

The search process concluded earlier this week, and I am honored to announce that I have been selected as their next Superintendent, beginning on July 1, 2025, pending successful contract negotiations. While I am excited about this new opportunity, which brings me closer to my family, the decision is bittersweet. I deeply value the personal and professional relationships I have had the privilege of building within this incredible Wilmington community.

I am proud to continue serving as your Superintendent through the end of June, remaining fully committed to the important work underway in WPS. Our School Committee will soon meet to develop both an interim and long-term plan for my successor and will keep the community informed throughout the process.

I look forward to all that lies ahead for our schools in the coming months and to seeing you around the community soon.

Yours in education,

Glenn Brand, EdD, Superintendent of Schools

Special Thank you to PAWS

Last month PAWS, the Parent and Guardian Advocates for Wilmington, MA Schools, set-up a wonderful dessert table for the School Committee members at the 1/15/2025 meeting in honor of School Board Appreciation Month.

We'd like to extend our gratitude to the PAWS members for such a thoughtful and yummy treat for our committee members!

If you'd like to learn more about PAWS, check out their Facebook Group or read a bit about them in this FAQ doc.
