MP1 Week 4

Greetings Buffalo Community!

What an incredible 3 weeks! We have a busy week ahead of us. Please read below for important updates.

TEA Accountability

I am pleased to announce that our campus has earned an 87 and will be a B rated campus based on the 2025-2026 school year. Additionally, we also earned 4 out of the 6 possible distinctions. Congratulations to the entire Buffalo Community for this achievement.

4 Weeks Checkpoints and BOY Assessments

Our Buffaloes will be testing their smarts this week, as we begin with our first round of assessments for the school year. Students in all grade levels will be taking teacher created 4 Weeks Checkpoints to measure learning from the first day of the school year. The assessments will help us establish a baseline in order to build our supports around our students' needs.

In addition to our 4 Weeks Checkpoints, several grade levels will also be taking Beginning of the Year State Assessments to determine where our students are based on curriculum that was learned in the previous school year.

Buffalo Attendance Store

We are excited to announce our new Buffalo Attendance Store. Our goal this school year is to increase our student attendance to 97%. It is imperative that students be in attendance every day, all day. Students with weekly perfect attendance will earn $5 in attendance dollars. Monies will be awarded every 3 weeks, and the store will open the following week of each cycle. Prizes will range from $5 to $180, and students will be given the opportunity to shop during lunch shifts.

ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS! We will need some assistance with setting up and running the attendance store. If you are interested in supporting, please contact Ms. Marquez (jmarqu10@sisd.net) or Mrs. McConnell (tamara.mcconnell@sisd.net).

Progress Reports

The first progress reports of the school year will be published to Skyward this week. We ask that parents and guardians review their student's progress. For questions or concerns regarding your child's grades, please reach out directly to your child's teacher.

Burger King Family Night

We will be holding our first Burger King Family Night this Thursday, from 3:00pm-8:00pm. Take a break from cooking supper and come by and pick up some delicious burgers. Don't forget to mention Sgt. Jose F. Carrasco when ordering. Please review the flyer below. We hope to see everyone out there.

Back to School Dance

Our first Back to School Dance of the year will take place this Friday during all P.E. classes. The entry fee for the dance will be $3 and can be paid using the QR code on the flyer below. Aloha Goods will be on site to sell snacks and refreshments. Funds raised from the event will go to support our Award Winning Robotics and Destination Imagination Teams. All students will be allowed to wear free appropriate dress for the day.

Science Fair Parent Night

We invite all parents and guardians to our Science Fair Parent Night next Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00pm-5:00pm. The session will provide our families with important information regarding science fair projects and deadlines. Students in attendance will get a free dress pass.

Free Supper Program

I am excited to announce that Sgt. Jose F. Carrasco Elementary School will be participating in an after school Supper Program this school year. The program will provide a FREE hot meal to all students, aged 0-18 years. The program is set to begin on Monday, August 31, 2026. Supper will be served daily, Mondays through Thursdays, from 3:16pm-3:46pm.

Uniform Vendor

Our vendor is currently sold out of several of our uniform items. They are working to restock their inventory and will be returning in the upcoming weeks. Thank you for your support!

School IDs

School IDs will be distributed this week. All students will be required to wear their school ID at all times as part of their school uniform. The initiative is part of our efforts to increase safety and security protocols at the campus. Replacement badges will cost $5 in the front office.

Meal Applications

Snapology Classes

Students in 1st-5th Grades are invited to join our Snapology After School Program. The program is set to begin this Wednesday, August 19, from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Please review the flyer below for registration information.

Young Rembrandts Art Program

Our Young Rembrandts Art Program will be returning to the campus this year. Classes will be offered on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Please review the flyer below for registration information.
