Dear Hardy Families,

Happy November! Holidays at Hardy have begun! Our holiday fundraisers are underway, including Christmas tree and wreath sales, See’s Candies, and a Minted.com holiday card promotion that sends a percentage back to Hardy. Thank you in advance for supporting our school through these festive opportunities.

Family Dine Out is this Wednesday at Dirty Birds and Family Friday is this Friday, November 7. We will focus on Whole Site Modernization, including move plans and drawings. I’ll be sharing an overview of our WSM move plans and some renderings—exciting stuff!

We also have a four-day weekend coming up next week:
• Monday, November 10, is a non-instructional day – no school
• Tuesday, November 11, is Veterans Day – no school
• School resumes on Wednesday, November 12

Looking ahead:
• Friday, November 14 – We will join schools nationwide for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. See information below on how your family can participate.
• The week of November 17–21 – Family conferences. Each day will be a minimum day to support afternoon conferences. Your child’s teacher will send sign-ups soon; please begin making after-school arrangements for early release.

Ruby Bridge's Walk to School Day - November 14

Join us for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Whether you live nearby or farther away, we encourage all Owls to walk in with us as a community. This annual day of dialogue commemorates Ruby Bridges’ historic steps, and our students will continue the conversation at school, practicing kindness and inclusion and engaging in age-appropriate activism to help end racism and all forms of bullying.

Spread the word to wear PURPLE on November 14th in celebration of the event, and post pictures from your community #rubybridgeswalktoschoolday

Choice Enrollment Window Open through Nov. 15 - Window Extended!

Will you help spread the word to prospective Hardy Owls—and any families interested in joining us—for the 2026–27 school year?

The 2026–27 Choice priority enrollment window opens Monday, Sept. 22, through Saturday, November 15. The Choice Program allows families to apply for schools beyond their neighborhood.

Lottery Results Posted: Mid-February 2026

Families applying during the priority window have the best chance to secure one of their top three school choices. Multilingual support is also available through the Family Welcome and Enrollment Center at (619) 260-2410.

Current Hardy students on Choice, who will remain at Hardy, do not need to apply.

🎪 Hardy Fall Carnival - Saturday, Nov 15, 1–4 PM

Step right into the Wizarding World of Hardy! 🪄

Join us at Hardy for an afternoon of games, crafts, music, and magical fun for the whole family. Admission and games are free, just bring a few dollars for tickets to enjoy the slide, petting zoo, Shrieking Shack (Haunted House), and all your favorite carnival eats!

🍔 Food & Tickets
Meals, snacks, and attraction tickets will be sold at the event ($1 per ticket). Pre-sale tickets available next week through the PTA.

💛 Ways You Can Help

🧁 Bake or Bring Something Sweet
We’re collecting cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and other baked treats for the Cake Walk and Bake Sale.

📅 Drop-off: Thurs 11/13 or Fri 11/14 at Hardy

🏆 Sweet Bonus: The class with the most donations wins a Holiday Pizza & Movie Party sponsored by the PTA!
Please label your baked goods with your child’s teacher’s name so we can count them toward the class total.

🎃 Donate Old Halloween Decorations
Our Dads Club will transform the auditorium into the “Shrieking Shack” Haunted House and needs extra décor! If you have gently used Halloween decorations you’re ready to part with, we’ll gladly take them; please note these will not be returned.

🪄 Volunteer During the Event
We’d love your help setting up, running booths, or lending a hand during the carnival.
Sign up using the Volunteer Form and check the Fall Carnival box; volunteer coordinator Lauree will reach out soon to assign roles.

All proceeds and treats will help support Hardy students and programs — thank you for your generosity and delicious contributions!

If your student is home sick, please notify the front office by phone or by completing the REPORT AN ABSENCE form.
