We have lots of lovely activities happening for the children this week to celebrate Seactain na Gaeilge.

  • Frása an Lae - Every morning we will share a new phrase for the children to use in the classroom and on yard. We will be listening and praising the boys and girls when they use their Irish informally throughout the day.
  • Cluichí (Games) - The senior classes will be visiting the junior classes to teach them some enjoyable games trí gaeilge!
  • Tráth na gCeist - The senior classes will take part in quizzes during the week.
  • Céílí Mór - On Friday the classes will perform some traditional Irish dancing together! Each class will also be performing an Irish Dán (poem) or an amhrán (song).

First Holy Confession

Well Done to all the boys and Girls who made their First Holy Confession last Thursday evening, Ms. Wall was so impressed by how well you all did and Fr Vincent said it was a lovely ceremony. The boys and girls enjoyed having the traditional toast party this morning, there wasn't even one slice of bread left when I visited them by 11am!

During Friendship Week, we spent time discussing the themes of Respect, Kindness, Inclusion & Friendship. The children enjoyed activities such as: Random acts of kindness with a buddy, a poster competition, friendship morning circles, displays of class artwork, a friendship wall with ‘bricks’ of kind deeds done throughout the week, learning a song based on friendship, SPHE lessons & friendship awards during our Friday friendship themed assembly! It was a really lovely week and I know that it was a great reminder to us all of the importance of showing kindness and respect to everyone in the school community.

FAI Schools Primary 5's Competition

Well done to the boys who took part in the 5 a-side soccer in the MDL in Navan today. There was fantastic effort, victories, defending, scoring the team work on display from everyone involved. One of the boys teams qualified from their group and narrowly missed out on a place in the Meath Finals for our schools category. The boys can all be very proud of their performances.

Yard Break and Play Areas.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, each class has been allocated specific areas for play during yard breaks over the wet weather season. Yard time is also split with only 4 classes on the yard at one time to avoid needing to use the grass. The areas of play include the blue soft play zone, the huts under the trees - if they are dry enough (not on the grass), the yard, and the basketball court. Unfortunately, some children are venturing onto the grass during breaks.

Staff members are actively supervising to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all students. We would ask for your support in reminding your children to stay within their designated play zones, as playing on the grass is not permitted until the weather becomes dryer and warmer. This helps us maintain a clean and safe environment for all students.

In instances where a child may go home wet, we encourage you to inform the teacher so that this can be prevented from happening in the future.
While we understand that children may occasionally go home a bit mucky, we want to prevent them from getting wet during break times to avoid discomfort and potential illness. You are welcome to provide a change of clothes in your child's school bag for emergencies, but our goal is for every child to stay dry in the clothes they wear to school.

Your cooperation in reinforcing these guidelines with your children is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
