Glenn School Eagle Post
October 2026
Superintendent's Nest
Fall has arrived! Students are getting into a routine at school and, hopefully at home, which helps them to be successful every day. Please remind your child to empty their backpack nightly, which includes their folder, water bottle, and lunchbox. Giving your child responsibilities/chores which you know are age-appropriate helps everyone get things done in a timely fashion. Parents, please check your Dojo and email daily as important reminders and paperwork might be in there.
The weather is starting to change. Please remind your child to wear boots in the morning as the dew is heavy on the playground. Having an extra pair of socks and an outfit in their backpack or cubby area is also a great idea should your child get wet. Each student also needs to have a pair of indoor shoes to wear once they come in from outside; Crocs are great!
Reading at home for at least 20 minutes each day is an important part to include in your child’s routine. Baggie Books are a great way to accomplish daily reading. Each month your child will bring home a grade-appropriate book to add to their home library. Readers are leaders!
This month we will be collecting soup for The Giving Tree (Souptober). These donations will be picked up on the last day of the month and be donated to Ladders of Hope Food Pantry in Fennville. Teaching students the importance of community service and giving to others is a part of our Vision Statement at Glenn School through our Strategic Plan.
This year we have registered to host a Field of Flags through Disabled American Veterans (DAV) on Veterans Day, which is Wednesday, November 11th. Please consider donating online at https://support.dav.org/FieldofFlags. We also will have The American Legion in South Haven Honor Guard come out to our school again this year at noon. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony.
Remember to get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. Take a walk to see how the leaves are changing, take a bike ride, visit a farm, or go on a scavenger hunt.
Sincerely,
Ms. Walle
