AVA Family UpdateMay 24, 2024

Good morning AVA Students and Families,

I have next week's schedule, the guidance and community updates, and important dates below as usual.

1. Today is the senior's last day, and I'd like to congratulate our graduates. If you have any questions about rehearsals or fees or anything else, reach out. I will see most of you on Tuesday at 8:30 in the Bray Auditorium.

2. I just sent out a notice about Science MCAS in June for those that should attend.

3. On Tuesday morning I will be reaching out to all students and families in grades 9-11 who are at risk of failing. We will have about 3 weeks left at that point, so it's now or never for some of our students who are behind. The last day of school is the 14th, and we will stop accepting student work on the 12th.

I have again included the transportation sign-ups that students must complete if they wish to participate in any busing next year again. If you have any intentions to be in-person next year, you need to complete it.

Thank you for your time.

NCAA Registration
The end of the school year is drawing near, and it will be especially important for graduating seniors who want to join NCAA in the foreseeable future to register AVA as their high school on the NCAA Eligibility site (linked HERE). Although you may register even after high school graduation, we strongly recommend doing so while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.

Reminder - SAT Fall 2024 test dates

If you wish to take the exam on the AHS campus, spots are filling up extremely fast! August 24th has already been listed as full (although you may check back each day to see if someone drops). Thus, we recommend current juniors who plan to apply to colleges next year to research their college application deadlines, assess differences between SAT testing dates and those deadlines, and then considering those results when registering for the test on the Collegeboard site.

SAT Test Fee Waivers
Collegeboard is now offering SAT test fee waivers directly online. Please click HERE to read the eligibility criteria and then click on the link labeled "request a fee waiver directly from College Board". Students will then have to sign into their Collegeboard account and add their counselor's (i.e. Ms Nellie's) email. Please reach out to Ms Nellie with any questions.
