WEEK 4 UPDATES

Dear Hornet Families,

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for trusting us with your child’s education. We value our partnership with our families and look forward to working together for a successful school year.

Student Attendance

Student attendance plays a critical role in academic success. During the week of August 24–28, we fell below our campus goal of 96%, with an overall campus attendance rate of 93.07%. While we appreciate our families who make daily attendance a priority, we have an opportunity to improve.

Monday was our strongest attendance day. Our greatest opportunity for improvement is Friday attendance, particularly in 8th grade.

We need your partnership to ensure students are at school every day and arrive on time, ready to learn. Missing even one day means missing valuable instruction, classroom discussions, assignments, and opportunities to grow.

As we move forward, please help us improve attendance across all grade levels by making regular and punctual attendance a priority. Every student. Every class. Every day.

Important Information from Teachers

Parents and students, please make sure you are familiar with the following information provided by each teacher:

  • Class syllabus and expectations
  • Tutorial days and times
  • Google Classroom information

Student Agendas

Students: Please remember to bring your student agenda to school every day. Your agenda is an important tool for staying organized and keeping track of assignments, reminders, and important information.

Parents: Please take a few moments to check your child’s student agenda daily for important information, upcoming assignments, reminders, and teacher communication.

Morning Drop-Off

Please remember that there should be NO PARKING IN THE RIGHT LANE during morning drop-off. The right lane is reserved for QUICK DROP-OFFS ONLY. Keeping this lane moving helps us maintain a safe and efficient arrival process for everyone.

Students may not be dropped off or picked up in the STAFF/Visitor Parking Lots.

Let’s make Week 4 another great week at Alice Johnson Junior High!

Actualizaciones de la Semana 4

Estimadas familias Hornet:

PBIS Rewards?

PBIS Rewards is a schoolwide system we use at Alice Johnson Junior High to encourage and recognize positive student behavior.

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Instead of focusing only on consequences, PBIS Rewards helps us intentionally teach, model, and celebrate the behaviors we want to see in our students every day.

How It Works

  • Students earn PBIS points when they demonstrate positive behaviors such as being respectful, responsible, prepared, and engaged in learning.

  • Points are earned during the school day from staff members who recognize students for making good choices.

  • Students can redeem points for incentives, rewards, and special opportunities through our campus PBIS program.
