Yearbooks Delivered!
Yearbooks were delivered over spring break, we got them organized and handed out to homerooms today!! If you ordered a yearbook, be sure to make sure your student brought it home. If your student did not bring home a yearbook and you thought you ordered one please reach out the office (614)-834-6200.
Fourth Quarter Incentive - May 21st
We will be having our final quarter incentive, Wednesday May 21, for students who continually follow our HERO expectations! Students will be doing 5 stations that all contain water. If your student would like to wear a bathing suit UNDER their clothes they can, but the clothing will need to remain over the bathing suit the entire time. After water recess is over, students will have the opportunity to change into dry clothes, if those are provided from home. If a change of clothes is not provided from home, the school DOES NOT have extra clothing and we will not be allowing students to call home to get other clothes.
We strongly encourage you to send in an extra set of clothes and have students wear water friendly shoes that are closed toed (no flip flops or slides!)

The book is available for purchase on Amazon if you'd like to get a head start. Students will also have the chance to complete comprehension questions that go along with each chapter for a chance to win prizes at school. Let’s get reading, Sycamore Creek!

Last Day of School - May 23rd - Early Release
The last day of school is Friday, May 23rd. Students will be dismissed two hours earlier than usual, which is 2:05 for elementary buildings.
Below you will find a PDF with specific information regarding the clap out. Please read the information carefully and if you are unsure of any of the information, please reach out to the office.
Moving?
If you know that your student(s) will no longer be attending Sycamore Creek Elementary next school year, we encourage you to let us know. This helps us in the fall when we are trying to track down students that we were expecting to attend , but haven't shown up. If we are aware that a student will be moving and attending a different district, we can reach out to that district and confirm the move. Until we are in communication with the new district and they have requested your student's records, your student is considered our student and will be marked absent.
If you have a student in grades K-3, and know that they will not be attending Sycamore Creek Elementary next year, please email the principal at pamela_bertke@plsd.us. We greatly appreciate this communication and wish your family all the best.
Sign Up to Volunteer
We are super excited to announce that the volunteer form has become electronic across all schools in PLSD. You can easily sign up to be a volunteer right now by using the QR code below or the link provided. If you have been a volunteer in the past, you must sign up again. Parents on Positivity Patrol Become a PoPP!
Parents on Positivity Patrol (PoPP) is a volunteer program that brings more caring adults into our schools to support students and staff. Parent volunteers play a vital role in education—not only as valuable resources for teachers but also as role models who show students that school is important and worth their time and effort.
Through PoPP, parents have the opportunity to actively engage in the schools their children attend, fostering a strong sense of community. By spreading encouragement and building positive relationships, PoPP volunteers help create a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
Join PoPP today and be a catalyst for change. Together, we’ll shape a brighter future—one uplifting interaction at a time.

Information from our Instructional Coach
As we enter the last month of school, your child will have a few end of year assessments.
End of year i-Ready reading and math assessments
End of Year Acadience Reading
End of Module Writing assessment for Wit and Wisdom.Source: Wit and Wisdom Tips for Families
1st Grade -” In Module 4, students discover that while there are thousands of versions of the Cinderella story, the stories are united by common elements and themes. Changes to the setting do not disrupt the magic of these tales or their ability to impart the importance of kindness, forgiveness, and belief in good triumphing over evil. We will ask the question: “Why do people around the world admire Cinderella?”
2nd Grade - “In Module 4, we will study the digestive system and the importance of healthy food choices. By analyzing texts and art, students answer the question: How does food nourish us?”
3rd Grade - “In Module 4, students will explore the creative impulse as they read biographies of artists in the fields of dance, literature, the visual arts, and music. In addition to reading about the artists, students encounter the work of each of these artists. We will ask: What is an artist?”
4th Grade - “In Module 4, we will read and analyze myths from the ancient Greeks and Romans, as well as Native American tribes, to learn the purpose and importance of these stories in their cultures. Students will also enjoy reading Walk Two Moons, a beautiful tapestry of stories within stories, to reveal a modern-day myth that captures a snapshot of our human experience. We will ask the question: What can we learn from myths and stories?”
