PTSA/Foundation Message
Dear Newcomb Families,
What an incredible show of Spartan Spirit these past few weeks! Our PTSA Read-A-Thon has been a magical success -- we've raised over $43,500 (and counting) thanks to YOUR generosity. Way to go, Spartans! Next up, our annual Fall Festival &Trunk-or-Treat is happening this Sat, Oct 25th -- and it's shaping up to be a SPOOKTACULAR event for all ages! Mark your calendars for Friday, Nov 14th when Newcomb SANKOFA hosts our 2nd Annual Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. That same day, the Newcomb Foundation celebrates its 20th Anniversary Golf Classic followed by the Friday Night Fever Benefit Bash -- so grab your tickets now and join the fun! A huge thank-you to our amazing Newcomb community and families for your continued support. We couldn't do what we do, without YOU!
With gratitude,

Read-A-Thon: Fundraising and Reading Competition
All across Newcomb's campus, classes and individual students have competed to raise the most money and read the most minutes in the Read-A-Thon Fundraiser. A variety of prizes were up for grabs in lots of categories (see the table below). Bunny-Hat trophies moved from class to class as the fundraising leader board evolved and changed. Stay tuned for announcements about silly stringing Mr. Thompson, which classes and which individuals won their respective grade competitions, and more!
Read-A-Thon: Current Class Fundraising Leaders!
As of last week, our class leaders are as listed below! Will your child's class ultimately claim the fundraising leadership trophy for their room??

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day - Nov 14
Friday, November 14, 2025 will be Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. This is an annual event commemorated by the California State Senate since 2021, meant to encourage dialogue about Ruby Bridges' historic steps to integrate her elementary school in 1960. The Newcomb Sankofa Village is hosting the event and also November's Friends and Family Friday. Please stop by the tables in front of the school on 11/14 to learn more about Ruby Bridges and how to further her message of spreading kindness and activism to make the world better! Students and families are encouraged to watch Ruby's video last week talking about this year's walk.
