Two of Ralph’s favorite employees will be retiring this month. It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to Janice Vail-Finneran (room 21) and Angie Carpenter (room 8), who is not only retiring but moving to Kentucky. Janice assures us that she will be returning in 6 months to substitute, so we’re thrilled she’ll be helping us out in the future. These women have been working as Instructional Assistants in the District for a combined time of 24 years. Thank you so so much for your hard work and helping our students’ pathway to growth.

It always amazes me when it’s December, because I feel this month just zips by and the next thing you know, we’re having to learn to write a new year. December at Ralph Richardson Center is super amazing. Santa gets to come to our school on a fire truck!!! The kids and I love this so much!! If you have some free time on December 10, at 9:00, feel free to stop by and experience this joy.

A special thank you to room 28 for decorating the bulletin board in the office this month. The newsletters from the students are fantastic! It's a great memory of all the fun things they've done together as a class this year.

Down the Rabbit Hole Down the Rabbit Hole

Just a reminder that we have a school library called Down the Rabbit Hole. If you would like your child to have the ability to check out books, feel free to sign this permission slip, and send it back to their teacher. Also, if you give us an idea of what types of books your child likes to read, we can help them select the perfect book. We have also attached a Book Request form that can be filled out to help us understand what types of books your student enjoys. If you would like to fill that out and submit it as well, we will work to make sure we have books in the library that your student is interested in.

M.O.V.E. Moment M.O.V.E. Moment

M.O.V.E. stands for Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience and is a San Juan sponsored activity-based program designed to teach children with severe disabilities the functional motor skills needed to sit, stand, and walk as independently as possible. We have students and staff working very hard on this every day!

Meet Nikzad! Nikzad has been practicing standing and bearing weight on his ankles, knees, and hips in preparation for learning to walk independently. Our staff helps to stabilize him and encourage him to continue trying his hardest! Keep up the great work Nikzad!
